I like to do strip blocks if I have strips. I also like the "scrappy trip around the world" squares.
|
I am almost finished with a crumb quilt. Started in the middle of the block with a five sided piece not bigger than inch, added "anything" around that, pressed, trimmed, added more, etc. until I had a nine inch square. That all went together with black sashing, and looks quite stunning.

I am into making a postage stamp quilt - amazing how much fabric that takes!

they are all fun but if you really want to burn through fabric whatever pattern you use, use no bigger than 2" units. The more blocks the more fabric gone because of that 1/2 seam allowance in every block. This will use up about 15 yards of fabric. Makes a heavier quilt, but more cosy to sleep under :)
The last border I put on had more than 5000 pieces, all one inch finished. It's gorgeous! |

Check out this thread.....lots of inspiration:) Scrap quilts are my favorite! |
So many to choose from.
|
I paper piece 4 and 5" log cabins, sometimes sort of color controlled, sometimes not, whatever I feel like at the moment. Occasionally a few 6-7", whatever, to combine into larger panels for borders, bags, runners etc

I have a difficult time making scrap quilts. I always am trying to "match" and get too worried about how it's going to turn out. Usually way to stressful, so I stay away from them.

Another vote here for the scrappy trip around the world!
ubequilting That's a beauty I'd like to try someday. Great quilt! |
