Favorite Scrap pattern
What is your favorite scrap pattern when you really want to use up some fabric?
|
Favorite scrap pattern??? Gee, there are soooo many. When I think of scrap quilts, I usually go to Bonnie Hunters site ~ quiltville.com . Sometimes it depends upon the 'mood' I'm in, as to the pattern I pick. Or other times, what scraps really need to be 'used' up. Like just the other day I finished a baby quilt using brights.

Disappearing 9 patch is one of my favorites.

Check out this thread.....lots of inspiration:) Scrap quilts are my favorite! |
There are so many scrap pattern that I love. But if you want to use up a lot of fabrics, how about log cabin?
|
I like scrappy stars, any stars. Multicolored on a pale background.

they are all fun but if you really want to burn through fabric whatever pattern you use, use no bigger than 2" units. The more blocks the more fabric gone because of that 1/2 seam allowance in every block. This will use up about 15 yards of fabric. Makes a heavier quilt, but more cosy to sleep under :)
The last border I put on had more than 5000 pieces, all one inch finished. It's gorgeous! |
I am currently intrigued with the many design opportunities of the Split 9 Patch free pattern from http://www.quiltville.blogspot.ca Click on the free pattern tab at the top of the site.

When ever I just you into paralysis as there are too many choices.. I make log cabins from my scraps... and use logs that are 1 1/2 ( cut) or smaller that way it uses the most amount of even the smallest scraps.... as the center will be 1 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch and so will the second unit added.
