I have the Janome Marie Osmond quilter's companion, not the fancy one, though, and a Janome 6260 which are great for piecing. I have the Singer Advance 7422, which is nearly new, but the bobbin winder failed, which is common in the newer Singers. The Singer sound like a freight train compared to my Janomes, but I love the satin stitch for my applique work. Janomes don't compare in that arena. Go figure...

I have 2 sewing machines that I use, and a 4 or 5 year old White serger that's never been out of the box! The first is my first new machine, a 1977 Viking purchased because it advertised that it would sew through the crotch seams of heavy duty jeans! At the time I had that need! Then about 3 years ago I bought a 2001 Viking Designer 1 Embroidery machine with lots of books & other goodies with it on eBay. I seem to have gotten a good deal, although the "dongle" is missing. I still like my original '77 Viking best, although it's developing tension problems these days.

I showed an early love for sewing, so my generous parents bought me my wonderful Bernina 830, circa 1973, while I was still in high school. I love it, it is a part of my being, I do everything on it, you will have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers when I pass. My husband got me a White serger 10 years ago; I only like it for sewing exposed seams in garments.

I dream of someday having the money and space for a long arm.

I think I have an addiction problem!
