Agree love the perspective!

I have the Fons&Porter flannel cloth...what I did.....I have a
sewing room that has a closet with sliding doors....purchased
Command hooks...the ones with the wire hooks, not the
plastic hooks....went to Lowe's and bought white smaller
size chain....my husband cut the chain into about 6inch length
we put hooks above the closet frame work....put the chain
on about 4 of the hooks....then put on the flannel cloth...now
when not in use I roll it up and grab the free end of the chains & put chain on the hooks....then I can still access the closet where
I have rolling carts with thread etc.

I couldn't do without mine. DH made it for me.

I use a flannel back of a plastic tablecloth, hung up on a row of cup hooks spaced 10.5" apart. on the top of a row of bookcases. I Use a set of inexpensive wire shower hooks to do that.
It would work across a wide window frame too.

It sounds like you have a message board that you could use for single blocks or small wall quilts.
Design walls are big enough to put a big project on.

Design walls really do help, glad you got one.

Earlier I posted that I was going to make one of these and I did. It is exceptionally helpful especially with all the small pieces!

Should have made one a long time ago.

I think you almost have to have at least one. I started out with two small ones; one about 2ft by50in and the second one 2ft by 4ftl. they were both made by me with thin wood, muslin and batting. When I moved my daughter out she left her queen size box springs behind in her room (now my sewing room). After a lot of debate what to do with it I turned it on it's end up against the wall and now I have a big design wall. I use the smallest of other two for putting on my cutting table and ironing the large pieces of material and the other one I keep as a small design wall when doing smaller blocks. They are both thin, light weight and easy to tuck in behind bookcases, etc. Enjoy
