Mine is plugged in with a lamp. As I leave the room They are unpluged. Thank God you were there to put it out. Someone was watching over you!!!

glad you are ok, and that there was minimal damage to your home.........very good lesson....unplug those irons!!!!!
|
Glad to hear everyone is alright. Thanks for the info. I'm going to unplug my iron now.
|
Glad you are OK!!!!! Thanks for the heads up. I have that same iron. I sometimes have left it plugged in while I made dinner etc. I will unplug it from now on.
|
I always unplug mine. It has an auto shut-off and I noticed that even if it was off the bottom of the iron was still warm. Not enough to cause a fire but still not safe in my opinion. Also, if the iron is turned off but still plugged in it still draws electricity. Anything plugged into a socket will draw some electricity even if it's turned off.

I agree CJ, me too.

EEEKK! Thank you for the warning and thank God you were home!

Even if you turn off the Rowenta iron, if it is plugged in there is still a connection going in the iron. Electricity is sneaky. At 1:00 am this morning a fire started in the basement of an apartment across the street from me. Everything points to electrical. |
