Thanks Neesie, I too am just learning! I appreciate the information. It turns out that I like outline stitching better than stitch-in-the-ditch, although I think stitch-in-the-ditch has a far better name!

Thank you, thank you. This is all new to me. But why do echo quilting? Why would one want to quilt two lines so close to each other? Probably a stupid question but I know one of you will have a super answer:)

Dina - I think it looks great and really makes the chevrons stand out.

Marsh, I echo stitch to make a feature in the quilt stand out like the appliqued flowers in my daughter's b'day quilt. I have a Warm Wishes on my design wall that may get the roses in the feature fabric echo stitched.

Thank you Irishrose - that makes sense to me. I don't think echo quilting is for strip pieced quilts. I have so much to learn.
