This is the way I make them. I don't like to measure so I bought the Lazy Girl ruler. Super easy and no wasted fabric.

Now for all you PP quilters out there, I have a pattern to do PP flying geese that is really cute. Soon as I figure out how to post it, I will

Flying geese is my favorite of all the blocks and I truly love Eleanor Burns template because every block is perfect. But if I had to choose another template it would be Lazy Girl Designs Flying Geese X 4 "No Math" ruler. You can use it to make several size geese using just squares. If you've ever made geese using the rectangle and 2 squares and gotten frustrated because they look crooked, you might want to give these a try. As far as cost goes, you can't beat a Joanne's coupon--even if you have to order on line. Good luck.

I hasve never had a template and I make flying geese easily without one. I use the square and rectangle method and the one seam method,

I use this method also, I love it, and don't have to cut triangles! Especially great when you need four of the same kind.

Thanks for th einfo on the FG's. Looks pretty easy the way it was shown on quiltinaday.com...I have never tried FG's, I'm kinda new at quilting and have been scared to try it. I guess I need to get the FG rulers.

There is a great tutorial on Quilters Cache too.

She describes a couple of ways to make them.
Good Luck! Blessings

Thanks for this link....I hate losing even that little bit of triangles you have to cut off when using the squares on each end of the rectangle method.....

Butterflywing.....I love Eleanor Burns techniques and products she sells on her web site. I learned to make a LOG CABIN QUILT in a weekend using her book (20 year ago) and my quilting friends tutoring. Re: Flying Geese templates....I like them as they are very easy to use and I have the differnt sizes. I am retired now and have lots of time to quilt and I like all the "quick and easy" things to use..... CarolSLC
