leave it to Ricky to bring us something from England.. I dont see how a long arm could be used though, I am afraid the needle would get caught on the pockets. I dont do my own machine quilting...

I had always done FG without a template but LOVE Eleanor Burns FG templates.

Recently had to do FG around borders of three quilts for brothers (they had to be the same, no fighting).
So after about fifty, I looked in Eleanor Burns Flying geese book for her method without templates and liked it so much I decided to buy her templates.
Have since made FG quilt and no longer mind making them and I always have a perfect 1/4" all the way around.

If you don't make FG often, or they don't turn out as consistantly as you like, buy the templates. She makes it easy as always.

I make my geese with two HSTs any size I need.
