The presentation of the quilt with the error was tonight. The couple was so busy reading all the messages and admiring the quilt no one noticed my error!! All that feeling sick for nothing. You were all correct - it did not matter. Thank you for all the encouragement and sympathy. It's nice to know that others make mistakes also. This board is so wonderful. The highlight of many of my days!

DebraK 05-18-2011 06:22 PM

I had to look for it ;-) Nice job.

frauhahn 05-18-2011 06:22 PM

You could always tell them that it was done on purpose, in the Amish tradition! Looks great anyways!

CloverPatch 05-18-2011 06:24 PM

I just LOVE wheres Waldo, find the mistake!! Takes me forever to find it!
I think mistakes add character, makes them a little different.
I like it in everyone elses quilts, but in my own it drives me NUTS!!!
If only I could think they are neat when I do it.......

Love the quilt, glad it all worked out. I think it is perfect!

craftybear 05-18-2011 06:26 PM

beautiful

cctx. 05-18-2011 06:34 PM

As Freddy Moran says, "never point out your mistakes..."

JuBee 05-18-2011 06:40 PM

Mistake? Who says it's a mistake? I think it gives more character to your quilt. WELL DONE!!!

GwynR 05-18-2011 06:42 PM

I had to look for it also, took a minute to find! I have heard it said of both the Amish and the Indians that you are supposed to make a mistake in everything you do. Your quilt is beautiful, I really love your colors!

NJ Quilter 05-18-2011 06:45 PM

My friend and quilting mentor always told me that 'mistakes' were 'God's eye'...no one except God and each quilt should always have a mistake.

cjomomma 05-18-2011 06:55 PM

I knew they wouldn't notice!! I'm glad you feel better about it now and inknew they would love it.

yellowsnow55 05-18-2011 07:00 PM

I had to look for it several times, see what you mean now. I thought you designed it that way, it looks great!

SnowQuilt 05-18-2011 07:01 PM

I don't see the mistake at all. Looks great. :)

Debbie C 05-18-2011 07:04 PM

a little 'whoops' just proves you're human - beautiful quilt, by the way!!

Airwick156 05-18-2011 07:10 PM

I do not see the mistake that you are all talking about....okay where is it? And you don't have to worry I won't tell anyone. But if there is a mistake, I don't see it. ) Its really nice though.

Edited to add...I see it now. But only because I went to your original posting to see what the error was. Hey Ive done that before. Its unique in itself and thats what matters. :) And even if they notice it some day, which I kind of thing they may not, they won't care as it was done FOR THEM. :))

Dina 05-18-2011 07:14 PM

I had to look forever to see a mistake, and I would not have even thought of that as a mistake. Beautiful quilt!!

isnthatodd 05-18-2011 07:16 PM

I don't think it looks like a mistake, it looks like a design choice. And I love it.

Carron 05-18-2011 07:18 PM

You did a great job and I would not point out what you think is a mistake. If any one should mention it, just say it is your signature. Makes for a unique quilt, unlike any other.

Ramona Byrd 05-18-2011 07:39 PM

Oh, I finally found it, after looking at all of the blocks from the top down and then the top across. On the second pass I found it. Never would have if you hadn't mentioned it having a flaw.

Don't worry about it, it is your trademark, that's your story and you're sticking to it.

luvTooQuilt 05-18-2011 07:45 PM

I love this quilt !! Mistake and all!!! What size are your blocks? And what size was the quilt?!! I think you did a fantastic job!!

Lv2sew2011 05-18-2011 08:08 PM

Took me a few minutes to find it, but if you hadnt said anything I would'nt had...Awesome Quilt

Sandee 05-18-2011 08:10 PM

Your quilt it beautiful!! AND if you want to see a "mistake" you should see the quilt I'm making right now LOL! And I'm gonna finish it anyway & I'm still gonna enjoy it since I really like all the colors in it. IF I get really brave, maybe I'll put it on here when done so that you all can say "whoa,& I thought I made alot of mistakes-look at THAT! LOL. It will still keep someone around here warm................

Mariposa 05-18-2011 08:26 PM

Looks great!

amyjo 05-18-2011 10:31 PM

you did a great job. If you wouldn't have said anything we might not have noticed. Looks great.

gzuslivz 05-18-2011 10:34 PM

Repeat after me, "It's not a mistake, it's a design element!"

Lilrain 05-18-2011 11:08 PM

I also had to look for the error. i would not worry myself one more minute about it. they may never notice and don't tell them!

manyana 05-18-2011 11:44 PM

I have spent a few minutes just looking at the quilt and could not see the "mistake". I even went row by row and needed to do that 3 times before I noticed - love the quilt I would not worry about it at all.

I had to read your other post before I could see your mistake! It is really a gorgeous quilt! What a sweet gift!

jansquiltn 05-19-2011 02:21 AM

I had one in my nieces quilt and was happy when no one saw it at my guild. :)

justlooking 05-19-2011 02:36 AM

Beautiful quilt! I really had to look and look to find it.And who would know it's a mistake. When I first took a class on quilting, my instructor said " Only God makes perfect things!"

Kathios 05-19-2011 02:36 AM

It took me quite a while to notice the unique trick you placed into the quilt. I think it is great! You did a fabulous job. Thanks for sharing!

Krystyna 05-19-2011 02:38 AM

I give up! What was the "mistake"? It's beautiful. Was that the mistake?

tntgranny 05-19-2011 03:35 AM

Went to one of the Historical sites in Wisconsin once. The tour guide showed us several hand stitched sampler type projects and explained that all had at least one error in them - intentionally. It was explained that "after all - only God is perfect."

mythreesuns 05-19-2011 03:38 AM

If my memory serves me right, cjomomma gave an excellent idea a while back about taking pictures of her quilts..because one seems to capture errors that way. I now do the same and it does seem to help. I noticed a post on here not to long ago of some beautiful quilts, and one of them had an error..I was so excited...I made hubby look to see I was not the only one to make the same exact mistake. lol My husband calls them signature designs....

lots2do 05-19-2011 03:42 AM

It took me a while to find it, too. Wouldn't that be the pillow end of the quilt? You made it that way so that the quilt could be laid over the pillows? That's what I'd say! :) Lovely work.

GrandmaAva 05-19-2011 03:52 AM

Who is Freddy Moran?

Homespun 05-19-2011 04:01 AM

It's beautiful.

Quilter7x 05-19-2011 04:03 AM

:thumbup: so glad to hear you are comfy with it now. {{{hugs}}}

SueDor 05-19-2011 04:05 AM

I am sure no one will notice, but it sure came out great!

Rettie V. Grama 05-19-2011 04:33 AM

"Only the shadow knows!"

matraina 05-19-2011 04:34 AM
