it followed me home, really! :)

My old machine died - my husband said it died of exhaustion. He found this 6600 for me through calling everyone around and asking for best prices. This Janome 6600 was a demo in a quilt shop and we were told was used only 11 times for that. (Maybe just by little old ladies on Sundays?) Anyway, she's new to me and feels wonderful. The owner of that quilt shop has this model at home and when I can find time I'll go to her for class. In the meantime I'm figuring things out as I go.

I think naming one's machine is rather odd, but after I learned about her existence and found she might be coming home with me I woke up one morning with the strange, but true idea that her name is Sylvia.

So Board, meet Sylvia. We're like foreigners getting to know each other right now, but I'm hoping for many long years together.

The 9" harp/throat, dual feed, auto cutters, and PRICE we were given (though huge to me, better than we'd found elsewhere) were the deciding factors. The shop that will work on her is wonderful - we've worked with them before. My husband spent a long time talking to them before we brought her home.

Congrats on the new pet!

LOL, the last thing that followed me home was a dog---------mine now. At least Sylvia doesn't scratch at the door all day wanting on the other side.

The only Sylvia I have known was an intensely creative, inventive and amusing person. I hope your new-to-you Sylvia embodies all these characteristics!

WandaVA 02-04-2013 05:57 AM

Welcome, Sylvia! Her cousin came to live with me almost 2 years ago, and we are best friends. I absolutely love my 6600!! The other darling who followed me home that day is a Janome 350e embroidery machine. She also captured my heart and opened up a whole new world of fun.

Congratulations, and I hope Sylvia makes you as happy as my Janome duo have made me!

Boy: Sylvia
Girl: Yes Mickey
Boy: How do you call your loverboy
Girl: Come here loverboy
Boy: And if he doesn't answer
Girl: Oh loverboy
Boy: And if he still doesn't answer
Girl: I simply say
Girl: Baby, oh baby, my sweet baby, you're the one
Both: Baby, oh baby, my sweet baby, you're the one

sewmom 02-04-2013 06:22 AM

I love my 6600! It's not my main machine, it's at our vacation home, but I love it when I use it! I have the same spaceship fabric- i made little boys aprons with it.

pocoellie 02-04-2013 06:23 AM

Wintersewer 02-04-2013 08:41 AM

Great husband!! I LOVE my 6600 and I will never sell it. I have since bought a new Bernina 530 and a Janome 7700, but my 6600 is still my favorite. I almost hate to admit it.....LOL! Enjoy....you have a winner there!!!

TexasGurl 02-04-2013 09:23 AM

Welcome to Sylvia !

My 6600 is a 2 yr. old now, the BEST machine I've owned ... and I've owned or used every major brand made ... in 40 yrs of sewing and 25 yrs of quilting.
You'll love her ! Many happy days of quilting ahead for you & Sylvia !

and you've got one SWEET DH too ...

crafty pat 02-04-2013 09:28 AM

Lucky you. I wish something that beautiful would follow me home.

quiltstringz 02-04-2013 09:40 AM

Congratulations - I am sure you will have many happy hours together.

EasyPeezy 02-04-2013 02:19 PM

Congratulations. I have the same machine. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

DonnaR 02-04-2013 02:24 PM

Congrats. It is really beautiful. I went to see my friends 6300 today and I was impressed.

GailG 02-04-2013 02:53 PM

Sylvia is gorgeous! I've been looking at a 6300, but would take a 6600 if the opportunity arose. I love the 9" harp....and the other features that my MC4000 doesn't have. My 4000 was a demonstrator used in a shop and has been in my possession for almost 20 years. It's been great to me. The retired owner of the shop still maintains it for me. Even if you've got to pay a little more, it's good to have someone that you know will give you good service. Congratulations!!

Belfrybat 02-04-2013 02:59 PM

Congratulations on your new housemate! And kudos to your husband for caring enough for you to buy you a fantastic machine. May the three of you have many happy years together.

yweinst 02-04-2013 03:06 PM

The 6600 is a fantastic machine. You will love her. Mine is named Evelyn after my mother who taught me to sew many, many years ago.
