Stay away from RED!

I use the blue and black pens all the time. I love them. I buy mine at Staples saves me paying shipping.

Watch for the back to school sales.....CVS and Walgreens marked them down 50% off last year and there was a $3 rebate in the package....that was a steal.

You might get the Frixion pens at an office supply store. They are made by Pentel. Some of the clerks don't recognize Frixion until it is mentioned with Pentel.

I just ran across a blog from quiltingclimber.blogspot.com/2011/07/frixion-pens-evaluated.html very complex evaluation done on a quilt sandwich. Everyone should read it before they use these pens on anything of high value or very light colored fabric. I was all set to buy the pens until I found this. I know not too many people will put their quilts in the refrigerator, but the cold weather use of quilts, especially outdoors (or even gift wrapped on it's way to a friend/client house in winter) is enough to steer me clear of these. Just saying....

There have been many discussions of the Frixion pens on here. I have purchased them at Walgreens and other stores. I ran my own test with them. I picked 10 different fabrics from my stash. Cut off a little piece and scribbled on them with a Frixion pen on both ends. One end I ironed the ink off the other I left it on and washed them in warm water. Most of the un-ironed ink came out in the washer and all of it disappeared in the dryer. I them threw the samples in the freezer. The results varied by fabric. Some had faint lines and some had no lines. A FMQ teacher at a LQS says that washing in Orvis soap removes all of the residue from the pens. I haven't tested this yet. I use them all the time and absolutely love them.

I love Frixion pens. Today, I traced a design for Redwork embroidery using a black pen. After tracing, I ironed on sheer interfacing. A few minutes in the freezer and my design was back. The design will be covered by the embroidery so I am not worried about the ink coming back again. I use the pens in marking my quilting designs because I like the fine line of the Frixion pens. I've never had a problem with the pens.

I also love them and have used all three colors with no problems. Once ironed it hasn't come back.

Well, to throw a monkey wrench in this thread ... I just saw on Facebook (Quilting page) that there is a new FriXion felt tip pen out and the writer said she loved them so much that she was going to throw away all her FriXion ball points and use the felt tips exclusively! However, I was looking for them online, and they are very hard to find, probably because it is a new product. Just wondering if anyone has these!
