Oh, you all are so funny!! This is fun. I guess I call myself a quilter. But I'm really a "wanna-be fiber artist". I love fabric and fiber. I love looking at it, feeling it, creating with it. That takes in a lot of different things: quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafting, etc. And I LOVE this board!

I call myself a "piddler". I just piddle during my day - moving from one thing to another - I have arthritis in my right wrist - so am limited to how long I can do one thing. So I switch activity about every 30 minutes.

Btw - what a bunch of talented people on this board!

I am a craft maker. I have been a seamstress most of my life but now I dabble in a lot of things

I go by wordpainter and am a writer, albeit not paid YET. I am 72 and a retired nurse. I am working (sometimes..giggle) on rewrites for 3 different short novels, and have a list of e-mail 'fans' that like to follow my MUCH shorter writings that a friend maintains and makes pretty for me These stories go out over the internet in e-mail format. Much of my writings is of an inspirational but not preachy form. I've been told I paint pictures with my words...thus my ID.

I also make and give away cloth dolls for boys and girls (Usually aged 2 to 8) who have a devestating medical problem, and so far 117 dolls have found a child to love. The girl dolls take 12 hours to make and cost us $21 to $23 dollars each to mail out due to their size and having to ship via a 'mail-room'. The girls are topsy-turvy and all dolls have a simple embroidered face. One side wears a smile and the inside doll wears a sleepy face.

I also knit and crochet, make clothes for great grands and occassional do embroidery. I am a wannabee drawer but that is more rare. Too many wishes and to few hours. I just suppose I am a variety of many things and an expert at none.
I will try to attach a pic of 4 of the 117 dolls that went out awhile back to VERY sick children. Most of the dolls go out through the American Cancer society in my county and an adjoining one and they disburse them to these local areas free, otherwise we could not afford the expense. Long ago 2 children were 'laid to rest' with their dolls, so I am thinking they were loved. The girls are 24 inches tall and the boys are 28 inches tall.

I've really enjoyed reading this thread... and decided to join in... hope it's not too late...

For a lot of my life I was Janice/George and Clarene's daughter/Nancy's little sister/Marcia's big sister... then David's wife... then Marissa, then Jonathan's mom (I was recognized last night as "Jonathan's mom" at the church where my son plays the bass in the praise band!! He's 29!!!) ha ha... I hadn't heard that phrase for a few years and it warmed my heart!
I'm Mrs. Berrong to many of my former students, some of whom simply can't bring themselves to say "Janice."
I'm "Clarene" to the love of my life (Clarene is my middle name... I'm my momma's namesake)...

I was a sewer for many years... cute little dresses and suits and Halloween/church costumes...
I LOVE cross-stitch and gardening... even pulling weeds!!

But my most prized moniker is "quilter!!!" (and btw... I think if you've stitched a few pieces together and produced a quilt top, you are a quilter!!)

For lack of a better word, I am a sewer/quilter and best of all a MiMi.

I say, 'I am a quilter." I enjoyed sewing 5 vests, 1 tie, 7 dresses, one top (for me) and a veil this summer getting ready for my son's wedding...it was a lot of work, i had a lot of fun....but when I was done and the wedding was over...it sure felt good to be quilting again! I still do hem and fix things for a good friend, but I am a quilter.

I am thankful for my gift from God that I can sew/quilt. So call me blessed. I sew purses, pj's, trick or treat bags, christmas stockings and anything my daughter finds on pinterest we can copy, ha.

What do I call myself, that's a good question. I like the word sewer and I think that fits a lot of what it do. I sew clothes, slipcovers, curtains/drapes, quilts, etc. I am also a crocheter (is that a word?) and gardener.I don't do any of it professionally. Only for the love of it. Sew maybe I'm a lover :>)
