I bought the same fabric at Walmart and you did a really cute idea. Love it.

I love it. I just bought some of that fabric from Wall Mart. Great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Awe, how precious!

OMG!!!!!!!!!! How much work cutting all those cute chickens! That is the cutest quilt I've seen. I'm partial to applique. I love applique!!!! Well done. And I know your fingers probably got very tired after tracing all those chickens and then cutting all those dang chickens out! Good for you! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Love, love the quilt! I have chickens/roosters in my kitchen and one of my granddaughters said I had too many. Really, can you have too many?
|
I think it came out great and wouldn't have thought about the chickens "flying" if you had not mentioned it! Thanks for
sharing! |
Adorable quilt!
|
They're not floating .... they're FLYING!!!!!
|
I just think they are excited because either the rooster is after them, or the cat is in the chicken yard. haha They are so cute!
|
Absolutely adorable!!!!!!
|
I think of them more as jumping for joy!
|
how cute, i love chickens.
|
That is one of the cutest quilts I've ever seen
|
Your chickens are just teriffic. And with polka- dots:D. I love this quilt. I may have to borrow your idea. It is wonderful. Keep on making those 'y' seams and they get better untill you get addicted to them. Really a challenge but how wonderful to be able to do them. I'd be pleased if I were you too! Learning the hard way is still learning and you just might discover something new!
Just wonderful peace |
Love your chicks so cute!
|
That is sooo adorable!!!! What a great job!
|
I love this quilt! It's so happy! I agree, the chickens are hopping with joy!

Here is the result of the chickens which I recently asked advice about fussy cutting. I decided to put them in an attic window since I'd never done one and love the illusion.
I'm posting this photo mainly because, like all my quilts, it's been a learning experience, and I thought I'd mention my problems. Being a self-taught quiltmaker, I learn some...make that many... things the hard way. All but two of my chickens, for instance, appear to be floating in space! If I'd been paying more attention instead of being so caught up in how to sew that Y seam, I could have made sure I put all their feet on the ground. And I struggled with that narrow sashing (called "ledges"). Without the benefit of setting squares, it was difficult to line up the vertical and horizontal sashing ....until I thought to mark the sashing (and it's still not perfect). Also, I was following instructions for attic windows that I found online which said to join 4 little blocks to make a single block instead of sewing them singly in a long row. Without sashing between, that made sense, but next time, using sashing, I think I'd sew rows with sashing between each single chicken block instead of creating that blasted 4-part block with the intersecting sashing. But that's the fun--if you can call it that--of learning by doing! Anyway, I'm pleased enough with this, my first attic window. I found some beautiful and amazing attic window quilts online and am eager to try another, maybe with a single large scene behind it. Thanks for looking and commenting, if you care to. I think they're fun. I agree with thread painting some grass under them if you don't like the floating effect, or the raffia nest idea.

That is one adorable quilt!! Great chicken fabric.
|
Very cute !
I think you did a fantastic job in every way. |
Lovely quilt. Love the colors.
|
This is a very cute quilt! I like the look of the chickens centered in the blocks!
|
VERY cute! I do see what you mean about the chickens "floating in space", but maybe do some meandering or pebbling beneath their feet in black or one of the colors in the fabrics to blend it in so it looks like feed on the ground?

VERY cute! I do see what you mean about the chickens "floating in space", but maybe do some meandering or pebbling beneath their feet in black or one of the colors in the fabrics to blend it in so it looks like feed on the ground if it bothers you. Just a thought, but I don't see that it really needs it, and it may blend in anyway once it's quilted.

I love it just like it is. But then the sewing green grass under them is cute too.
What an adorable quilt.....Now I need to add that one on my bucket list..... |
Darling. Looks like a fun quilt to make. Love the fabric used for the chicks

Your quilt is darling.

Thanks to everyone who has commented on my humble little attic window quilt! I can honestly say I never expected such nice compliments. I'm still a novice, just trying things, and the encouragement from other quiltmakers--all of you on this board-- is so helpful and feel-good making (not to be maudlin, but you guys are like my mother, who, when I first began sewing, bragged on everything I made. She didn't sew herself but happily went fabric shopping with me. I still miss that...and her, of course.....and can't help wishing she could see the quilts I've made). Positive reinforcement goes a very long way! Thank you all!

I think this turned out great! I like how you used the red for contrast. Very nice.
