Maybe someone would send you the costume? Or maybe we could just all put those big stogies in our mouths (ewwww) |
I'm going! It's been a long time, but I'm going again this year. You must see the Quilt Museum as well as everything at the show location. You will love it!
I am only about an hour away. When is this happening
I'll be going with a friend on a bus from our LQS. This is our second year. You have to try the strawberry short cake. It comes with ice cream. We had it two days for lunch! Try to see Eleanor Burns. She's a hoot! The quilt museum is a must. Have fun!

I have been twice and try to go every other year - its a two day trip from Ontario and we go by bus. Have a blast!! Most of my stash is from Paducah!! Have fun and enjoy!!
I have been to Paducah.
Parking is a task. They say go on Thursday. Saturdays are too crowed. It's almost impossible to find a motel now. To be really honest I enjoyed the one in Nashville. They have better parking. But any quilt show is awesome to a quilter. You''ll get to see Betty Cotton and Eleanor and Kaye Wood and maybe a few others. Take lots of money and don't plan on bringing any home. lol Hope you have fun. |
My Aunt (who lives fairly close to Paducah and has been more than once) says the show is amazing, but the museum is to die for! She prefers the museum over the show because of the crowd situation. Maybe you'll have time to fit that in your schedule....Have fun!
Can't make it to Paducah but am planning a trip to Missouri in May and want to go to the quilt show in Kansas City. Has anyone been to that show?
I went to the KC show years ago. If you can't get to Paducah, KC is good! Gotta get your fix somehow! Interesting that those 2 shows are about the same distance for me.
What quilt show in Kansas City???
One day I too would love to go to Paducah. I do know some people that live not far from there and maybe can plan to go next year!
I went about 3 years ago and figured I had bought enough for 4 years, so hope I can go again next year.

some friends and I went to Paducha but not during the show and had a great time. There wasn't any problem with parking or hotel rooms or anything. The shops were wonderful. We bought $4 material at Elenor Burns shop and just had a blast. don't need to be there during the show time.

I would like to comment on some of the other comments concerning Paducah. Parking is sometimes a problem downtown, but you can park at Hancock's of Paducah, at the Mall or at several of the hotels and take the free shuttle, which runs frequently. Schedules are available almost everywhere. I disagree that you don't have to go during the show. The atmosphere is so wonderful during show week as the whole town gets involved. Quilts are hanging at the hotels, restaurants, vacant store windows, etc. Also, you will rarely find this many vendors in one place, many with special show prices. One other place to see quilts and more vendors and The Hoffman Challenge is the Rotary Club. They have a wonderful display of antique quilts each year. Eleanor Burns has a sewing school on Saturday, Sunday and Monday before the show at Carson Park. Tents are full of fabric under $5/yd and she does 3 shows a day that is a must see. Hotels are very expensive and fill up quickly, but there are alternatives. Bed and Breakfasts, individuals who rent spare rooms during show week or staying an hour or two out of Paducah. I love going to Paducah and urge every quilter to go at least once.

I DID NOT KNOW THIS......but Paducah is a 6 hour drive from my house!!!!
Yahoo....maybe I could drive there, might have to sleep in my car...don't have a room yet nor have I discuss this thought with him yet. Gotta dry my eyes and think and plan....MAYBE I MIGHT GO TO PADUCAH. |

Take an apple, maybe a sandwich and definately a bottle of water. You'd be surprised how much energy all that looking and shopping take out of you... ;-) |
I am going looking forward to it. My husband is taking me for our anniversary.Hope he doesn't get to bored. we are going for 3 days Wed.,Thurs., and Friday. This is my first I am new to the quilting world but really enjoy it.
wear comfortable shoes. Yes, take lots of pics. You just need to show up and buy a ticket to see the show. Classes are probably filled by now but look for the free mini classes. Take your time, ask lots of questions and have a ball.
Yes you can take pictures of the quilts. It is awesome show.
Send hubby downtown if he gets bored. They have a nice area to explore.
Sassy I have never been to the quilt show in Kansas. Where is it at? & where in Texas do you live? Thank You

Go to search and find "Paducah....FIRST TIME GOING."
There was a good thread going there a short time back. On page two I wrote a long post about my Paducah experiences. I go every year and love it. Hope that you will love it, too. |
I bypassed a room downtown for one about 40 or so miles away. It was half the price and since I was driving it didn't matter I wasn't in town. I do get a little peeved the hotel rooms costs double and some triple for the quilt show but that's the way it is for most big events in any town.
Handi Quilter is a long arm quilting machine.
I am so jealous of you. Have fun and take lots of pics to share with us.
I found some fabric with bananas on it and plan to affix a piece to my badge so you will know I am a member of this forum. I will be there on Thursday!
