will we all have Badges? If so, my name is Constance

If you pay at the show, you will have an arm band. If you register in advance, you will have a name tag to wear around your neck.

No pictures at all in the vendor booths but the quilt show quilts you can take all the pics you want. Funny: Last year one vendor told me no one wasn't allowed to stand and gaze at her vendor booth quilts. She said anyone could memorize the patterns and replicate them. I was admiring the fabric not the pattern but I smiled and spent my money elsewhere.
Oh be sure and buy the AQS Quilt Show Book. It has a picture of every quilt entered and all the info about it. Much better than taking your own pics. I tend to take a close up of a quilt detail that interest me. You are allowed to get very close but not touch the quilts.

Thanks BellaBoo!

139 DAYS INN DRIVE
Kuttawa42055
KY
United States

Has a few rooms available for $85-$90 a night if you are driving in. I have stayed in Eddyville next to Kuttawa and it was an easy drive to and from Paducah.

BellaBoo 03-29-2010 01:03 PM

Forgot the above rate is booking through hotels.com

MrsSew66 03-29-2010 03:18 PM

Hi! This will be my third year to go. It is overwhelming! A friend and I park the car near the convention center and view all the quilts and take in all the vendors along the way. I believe you have to pre-register for the classes. There are shuttles that take you around to different buildings/shows and motels. You may want to take your own lunch; however, they do have vendors selling food outside of the convention center. Be sure and wear comfortable shoes. There is a website that will explain in more detail about the show.

Ragann63 03-30-2010 05:49 AM

There are four of us going! I think we should come up with some way to identify anyone from this site going. How about wearing a piece of red ribbon? If we see anyone with a red ribbon we can introduce ourselves?

Ragann63 03-30-2010 05:58 AM

We are staying in a cabin at one of the local parks. Way cheap and a lot more ambiance than a hotel!

BellaBoo 03-30-2010 05:58 AM

The members of Quilt in a Day forum wear purple feather boas. The red ribbon needs to be very eye catching or will hard to see in a crowd.

Ninnie 03-30-2010 06:01 AM

We are staying in Calvert City, which I think is about 20 minutes out.
Will have to think of something to wear that will show up well, maybe a large ribbon in my ponytail or a hat, will get back on this as soon as an idea comes to me   All suggestions will be appreciated though :-D

Ragann63 03-30-2010 06:06 AM

How about just a little paper or fabric piece that has a "QF" on it? It could be attached to the name tag or just pinned on a piece of clothing or purse? We could meet each other and probably promote this sight by answering the question "What does the QF mean?" It would be great to come up with something standard. If every group wears their own thing, we still won't know who each other are!! I would love to put some faces with names. You guys have been a great help!

Shemjo 03-30-2010 07:44 AM

I think we should wear something with bananas on it, or a gorilla to honor Admin! I found some banana fabric and am thinking of a scarf to tie somewhere. I could add QF to it!

sorry, but I really don't look good in yellow
No banana fabric here either
will keep thinking though

BellaBoo 03-30-2010 01:00 PM

We could attach our forum name across our tote bags, both sides. Everyone carries a tote don't they?

Lots of quilters especially ones that come in groups dress up in fun hats, vests, colorful shoes, and fun jewelry. It's a happy show.

correction: I'll be there Thursday afternoon until Sunday noon.

.

This is too funny! I can't even remember where my keys are after I have just set them down! LOL

And has anyone thought of something to wear/do? I'm in. I have a rainbow feather boa! But if it is hot the colors will bleed on your shirt. (experienced this problem when I got it in Vegas last year)

BellaBoo 03-30-2010 03:36 PM

It's not too late for everyone that wants, to decide on a quilt block pattern to make two of the same quilt block and glue/sew it to each side of a plain tote bag. I suggest a black and white pinwheel block? Everyone should have some black and white fabric laying around. Just tossing ideas around.

shrabar 03-30-2010 04:46 PM

What day are you going to the show?

Ginaky 03-30-2010 04:53 PM

Oh, but we love KY Dam Village! We've stayed there before and it's really not that far from the lodge to Hancock's. And besides, I work for a state university here in KY and get a BIG discount on my room! Like less than $60 a night.

BellaBoo 03-30-2010 05:11 PM

I'll be there Thursday afternoon to Sunday noon.

Shemjo 03-30-2010 06:05 PM

I will be there Thursday day from 10 until 5.

sharon b 03-30-2010 08:06 PM

WOW how lucky that you are getting to meet a group from the board  Hope everyone gets a chance to meet up and at least say HELLO

knlsmith 03-31-2010 01:36 AM

I'm at work now, but will look at calendar when I get home or get ready for work tonight (3rd shifter)

Ninnie 03-31-2010 06:15 AM

I will be there 21st, 22nd., and the 23rd. . Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

charvan 03-31-2010 06:54 AM

I will be there Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat am. I am staying at Moores Resort on Ky Lake. Hope to meet some of you there.

I think it's great employees get perks from their job!
The only discount I could find online was $85 a night at Days Inn double bed. I never pay full price for a hotel room, there is always a discount somewhere by booking online. ;-)

BZ quilting 03-31-2010 09:02 AM

I'm going, this will be my 2nd year. YEAH

MrsSew66 03-31-2010 01:25 PM

I will put a note on my purse to wear a red ribbon. Hope to meet some of you. We'll be going on a Thursday.

Pat

MrsSew66 03-31-2010 01:27 PM

My friend and I will be there on a Thursday also. We'll wear a reb ribbon. :-D

Ninnie 03-31-2010 02:23 PM

OK, Guys, a red ribbon on my purse it is then :-D :-D

BellaBoo 03-31-2010 03:32 PM

I'll have a big red bow tied to my bag.

Shemjo 03-31-2010 06:22 PM

Okay, I will go with a red ribbon on my bag, but I think he yellow banana scrap would be more noticeable!

Ninnie 04-01-2010 12:49 AM

You can still do the banana if you want to
Besides, some of us are using red ribbons and some are using red bows    I am still trying to figure out the difference .
I want to go by WallMart and pick up a back pack, I think that might be easier to carry around. And if you still want to do a banana also, well, I will just do both :-D :-D

MrsSew66 04-01-2010 03:52 AM

Some of us are wearing red ribbons or bows on our purses!!

Tallulah 04-01-2010 07:50 AM

Here is some info. I copied off the AQS site about the Paducah show.

The next Paducah quilt show will be held April 21 – 24, 2010, at the Paducah Expo Center, Julian Carroll Convention Center, and the new AQS Pavilion that will be located in the parking lot at the convention center. The AQS "Hurt Book Sale" and more vendors will be at the AQS Vendors on Kentucky in the Finkel Building in downtown Paducah. Special Events will be held at the Carson Four Rivers Center (across the street from the Finkel Building).

Note: The show will not be using the Executive Inn for this show. The Executive Inn, the hotel attached to the convention center, has been closed since last year’s show and will not be open during the 2010 AQS Quilt Show.

My comment:
This is where the vendors will be, who have been in the hotel part before. The Excutive Inn is closed, but the Expo part will still be open. The Expo is where the quilts are on display.

Don't forget about the "hurt book" sale on Kentucky. They are not damaged.

RED RIBBON:
I will be there Tues. through Friday. We will go to the preview on Tues. night. I will have a red ribbon on my canvas bag that I carry to put my small purchases in. I may put one on my fanny pack, too. It would be fun to meet some of you. Should we plan a meeting spot on Thurs., as it seems many will be there that day?

Shemjo 04-01-2010 01:00 PM

Thanks, Ninnie, I can do both, but I think there will be lots of red ribbons there.
