I'm in this catagory

We can't help but try new ones that we think will be the one.

mulberryellie 10-27-2011 03:00 AM

This is so interesting - dare I ask you for 2 lists for a Beginner, Traditional, Wall Hanging/Bed Size Quilter

The size/type of rulers that are essential:

The size/type of rulers that are nice but not essential?

I kicked off with the 6x24 and a 12.5x12.5 Square - any more suggestions?

Thanks, Ellie xx

Same here

Bren 10-27-2011 03:02 AM

About 15.

Krystyna 10-27-2011 03:02 AM

Not quite that many, but more than I use regularly. I started out with just 3 or 4 and then I went to a quilter's estate sale and they were all 50 cents or a dollar. How could I resist?

purvissp 10-27-2011 03:04 AM

We have about 10 rulers of various kinds and about 15 templates.

Whenever a new project requires many pieces of dimensions that we do not have a template for I go down to the work shop and make new templates out of 1/8" plexiglass.

Rumbols 10-27-2011 03:14 AM

About 55. Didn't realized I had that many. Not even counting the template sets I have. How did this happen? Was I just forgetful? I have a set of 10 I use faithfully and the rest are used once in a while. I here by promise to not look, want, or buy another ruler again (fingers crossed). LOL

quilted dakota 10-27-2011 03:18 AM

only 5

redmadder 10-27-2011 03:26 AM

Now I feel deprived. Wait, I have 11 plus protractors, compasses, freezer pater, a roll of kraft papper, a basket full of markers and pencils, every size of rotary cutter and spare blades, glue, various household items for circles... No wonder the teens always came to my house to do their projects. Guess I'm in the game after all.

Patti Mahoney 10-27-2011 03:34 AM

Probably about 20, different size hexagons, the Dear Jane rulers, largers ones, smaller ones, medium size ones, depends on what I'm cutting and the size......most need different rulers, or at least I think so. Don't want to use a 24" for a 6" piece of fabric.

laalaaquilter 10-27-2011 03:36 AM

I have four but I'm thinking I need to get another. I've been working on a project this week that would be soooo much easier if I had a 12.5 square.

weezie 10-27-2011 03:54 AM

Waaaaaaaaaaay more than 33! I'm not even going to count. Many of mine are sets and usually curved - because I can't get the accuracy I want for curved pieces without acrylic templates. I just made a Grandmother's Fan quilt with cardboard ones that I had made. I was painstakingly careful to get them right, but still not too happy with those!

My goodness, you have a lot of rulers!! I have maybe 6.

one

tmg 10-27-2011 04:21 AM

i don't want to count. Many of them I have not used but wanted them. I only bought them when I could get them on sale.

orangeroom 10-27-2011 04:25 AM

Rulers - about 7
Templates - too many to count. I took a sampler class that we had to create a lot of them. Not going to count them. As they're in a couple of gallon size freezer bags and I don't use them.

jitkaau 10-27-2011 04:29 AM

Probably around 20.

Tweety2911 10-27-2011 04:39 AM

I have so many I forget where I put them all:-)

DeeBooper 10-27-2011 04:49 AM

I can't even find all mine to count them...really need to organize!!!!!

Drew 10-27-2011 04:53 AM

I have a few. Really need to get a pegboard up to organize them.

Deborah12687 10-27-2011 05:01 AM

I have 5 rulers, a six foot for stripping, a yard stick, six inch, a set of round rulers, and one for cutting angles and they are all made of metal. I gave up on the plastic and wooden ones as they ware and my blocks were off.

carolynjo 10-27-2011 05:14 AM

8 or so but 2 I use regularly.

boomer47 10-27-2011 05:18 AM

Ditto on the 4!

Wish I could do that. I could save a lot of money.

How about the ones from Rhonda?

I have a set of Rhonda's, too and I counted them as well.

A 6 X 12 is a good size to have too. And a 6 1/2 X 6 1/2 square up ruler.

If you need them, it's not too many.

charhend 10-27-2011 05:51 AM

Oh goodness, I would hate to count how many I have!!

PWinston 10-27-2011 05:51 AM

I don't dare count, it would be too depressing. Also, if I count I would realize how many duplicates that I have - - purchased it again because I forgot that I had it already.

Diane C. 10-27-2011 06:18 AM

I have about 4 rulers, but way too many templates. Diane C

Tudey 10-27-2011 06:27 AM

Not too bad on rulers (3) squares (4) and templates (2) but I do have 7 seam rippers and about 2 dozen measuring tapes!

j 10-27-2011 06:37 AM

Do they have rulers that are 4 7/8 or others with the 7/8 and made into a square, If so I am buying more. - J
