More importantly, How many of the 33 do you use. Most specialty rulers are unnecessary because with the "basic" 5-6 rulers, you can make any shape.
Now having expounded all that common sense, I have about 20. LOL
I use 6" square; 6"x24"; 4"x14"; and a 12"x12" square-up. Now think about all the fabric I could have bought.
Oops, rulers/templates (I see the two as interchangable). Doesn't really change much, some shapes may be a little difficult (octogon, curves, etc) but not impossible.

I count 22, and I know there are still some I need to get!

I have 5 but sometimes wish I had better ones for squaring up my blocks; I do a guesswork type squaring - and although using a ruler, it sometimes still does not get it square. I think the blocks have a tendency to move, or stretch on the bias a bit.

Maybe a dozen at the most.

I don't have that many but I am new to quilting. I say I'll probably have as many as it takes, no matter what the number. If there's a tool or a ruler that makes things easier then I say why not?

I've got about 18-20. I got a lot at Tuesday Morning for 99cent-4.99. :) I can't pass that up. And I do have a few template sets for the DWR quilt, and my Dresden Plates.

I'm sure I have about 20-25. The 'rule' is to use them.

In 2009, I decided that any ruler not used by the end of the year was going. I stuck a piece of tape on the end of each ruler as it was used. At the end of the year, 8 non-taped rulers left to new homes. In a couple of cases, they were duplicated rulers that I would rarely use in the first place.

Now, this is different from templates. I have a boat load of those as well and they are actually harder to part with. For instance, I don't need my Thousand Pyramids or Apple Core templates after this year, so they will go in the box for swap.

Well after reading quite a few posts I don't feel so bad. I have around 10 rulers but do use all but one. The lines are too thick and it make using it hard going.(6"sq)

Not really sure how many I have but I know my friend gives me heck because I do not have the fussy cut rulers.... :roll: .. I think I need some square up rulers as well... hmmm XMAS LIST!!!!! lol..

the real question is not how many rulers you have... but how many duplicates!! i have a lot of those!!

well, i found a bunch on sale. Really, it was actually saving money to buy them!!!!! lol

I have 14 rulers, 32 templates, no duplicates and been quilting for 3 years. I don't have any regrets about buying any of mine, and fully intend to buy any more that I want or need. Quilting is my time to unwind after work. It is worth it.
