Other things to look for at Goodwill and other thrift stores are the metal holders for records. Remember when there were records to play on a record player? Ya, that really dates me! They are great for holding your rulers of all kinds.
Travel irons, especially the ones that have the handle fold down and also have steam are a great item at the thrift stores. They pack very well with my June Taylor Cut & Press or any other kind of pressing board for traveling to retreats or classes. I made a little bag for mine and have a small pump bottle of spray starch in it too.
I look for quilting books there too.
Someone said to look for cotton sheets, etc to practice quilting on, and that is something that I hadn't thought of. Much better than buying cheap new fabric just for practice. Now I know what to do with my old sheets. I have made bags out of them to store some quilts in too.
It's fun to go to those stores and see things and think, 'now what can I do with this that will work in my sewing room?' We'd be surprised to see just what we can come up with if we have that in mind as we go in. After all, quilters are very resourceful!!!
Happy hunting!!! :) :) :)

Your find was great. Hope you enjoy it much for a long time.
I love thrift stores and Goodwill as well. I've found fabric but would really love to hit a goldmine one of these days.

My best Thrift shop deal was at the Sally Ann. I found a Singer Press for $8.00, but it was 50% off day so I only paid $4.00 for it. It is great for fusing.
