You have done a great job. It is beautiful

Beautiful! My grandmother used templates (cardboard) for the log cabin quilts she created. The edges were a little wonky after many uses, but her quilts are still priceless to us. You have a treasure!

This is such a treat and thrill - a connection with your great grandmother is very special. The quilt will be gorgeous!

I've finished to top and now I'm not sure what to do with about the quilting. I thought about just SID and making a diamond in the large cream blocks. Don't want to do anything too fancy and take away from the stars. I'd appreciate any advise. Thanks!

Beautiful quilt! And lucky you for being able to finish it. It's a labor of love, truly.
I am the lucky recipient of 3 of my Great Grandmother's quilt tops. These are extra special since she originally got me started in quilting (I was very young!) They were made in the 1950's, and I discovered them in my father's attic in August of 2011. I am slowly restoring them, painstakingly, mostly by hand. It is a true labor of love. Two will go to each of my sisters, and I will keep the third. I've been working with a professional quilt restorer to achieve good results. The result will be the work of two generations, and yes, that will be noted on a label on the back. |
Beautiful. You are so lucky! :)
