Bonnie Hunter blogged about this tip and I tried it and it works the best of all I've tried. Use the Command Strips as the sewing guide. No sticky on the machine and easy to take off. I have the 1/4 food with metal side guide but I like this much better. I can make the guide as long as I need, not just length of the foot. But I found an extra plus to this. If you can see the thread behind my needle the strip holds the thread out of my way after I cut it. I tend to get the thread in my way when I'm starting a new seam.

great tip! thanks, will have to try this. I have a couple of different 1/4" feet but usually just mark with painters tape. this is much better

I used the hooks on the wall to hang up most of my rulers but never thought of the strips for this. My treadle sewing machines have no mark so this will work great on them!

I no longer use my 1/4" foot. I move my needle over to make 1/4" seam and use my regulare sewing foot. This foot is wider and feeds fabric easier/smoother. You could use this strip as quide if you do not want/or can't move needleo

I have found that if you use double stick foam tape, it works well too. Having the thickness of the foam makes for a great "wall" for the fabric to fun next too. It's very cheap and comes off without leaving any sticky. Command strips hadn't crossed my mind yet! Good to know.
