How about items in the really, truly hard to open hard plastic packaging?

You are not the only one. Years ago when Beta and VCR recorders were all the rage, I kept a seam ripper near the machine to tear the cellophane off the tapes, then I used them to open delivery packages that were taped with the tape that had the "string" added to secure pacages in transit. Now I use them for everything - they're all over the house. I'd never throw them away LOL
They're great in the kitchen too, opening meat packaging (Hot Dogs, Bacon, etc. -Possibilities are endless.

Great tip, I have at least 4 in a bottom drawer. I am definitely going to take one to the kitchen.

Thanks for this idea. I constantly fight with things like this and I just happen to have a SR I do not like

What a wonderful idea. One of my old seam rippers is moving downstairs to the kitchen today.

I opened one this morning. Now why didn't I think of that. I was even in my sewing room when I opened it.
