ME! The answer is ME! To start with, I've tripped over too many things in the past few weeks in my sewing room...something that comes with three quilters sharing one, small room! Right now my sewing room is 8' x 14" and all the side walls are lined with tables right now. It's quite a hassle to get anything done, let alone teach my youngest DD to quilt and step around my oldest DD's quilting project.

Sooo, this was all irking me when I started my Spring Cleaning this week. In our home, if there's something we don't use in a 1 year period, it's shipped off to our local charity thrift store. While sorting through our dining room, DH and I just clicked on one thought: WE NEVER USE THE DINING ROOM! We never entertain. Since my DFIL has found someone new, we never host the holiday dinners and since DH works late most nights, it's just the girls and I eating at the kitchen table our outside in nice weather. So, we took out the piano and relocated it, moved the large fish tank upstairs and emptied out the china curios. Tomorrow I can finish cleaning the room and start relocating the sewing room. The new room is 12' x 18'! That's almost double what I had before! :D

Woohoo! I am so glad you found new space to be used. Have fun!

Vicki W 06-14-2011 04:25 PM

Congratulations

sandy14 06-14-2011 04:26 PM

Wow, that sounds like a dream come true!!!!!!! We really need a good amount of space and especially if there are three of you. I would be ready to pull out someone's hair if I had such close quarters.
Good for you and I know you will really enjoy your new space and the production will be tripled!!!!!!
Can't wait to see it all done.

thanks

Will do! I'm debating on painting at the moment, first. That may take a few days.

sooooo jealous. but happy for you and the girls

mommamac 06-14-2011 04:59 PM

a wonderful example of 'great minds think alike' - just hope your rule of if it wasn't use in a year out it goes doesn't apply to your new sewing room next spring. lol

Robin - great minds think alike - I had the exact same reaction!

RkayD 06-14-2011 05:23 PM

I wanted to do that too but Hub will have none of it. We too never use the space and there is a 10ft table in there. I usually end up sewing on it anyway when I need the room. I just hate dragging stuff back and forth. But....My daughter just moved and I get the rest of my sewing rooms back. So maybe I won't mind after all.

sandraa 06-14-2011 05:40 PM

Good for you. I took over the living/dining room several months ago and it is so nice.

brushandthimble 06-14-2011 06:28 PM

awesome, can't wait to see pics

pocoellie 06-14-2011 06:29 PM

Congratulations on your new sewing room. My small sewing room is 9x15 and there's barely enough room for me, I couldn't image sharing it with others. LOL

Doreen 06-14-2011 06:32 PM

Enjoy your "new" space!!

quiltjoey 06-14-2011 06:39 PM

Sounds like you have a wonderful husband, especially one who helps you with your sewing! I have a great husband but he would just as soon all my "stuff" would go away! Good luck with that!! LOL

debbieumphress 06-14-2011 06:46 PM

Congrats. I love my sewing room. YOu will love the new space you will have. I used to rearrange the whole house just to make it different. NOW it's harder. SOunds like you will all enjoy it as a family. I agree....pictures when you are done.

Ps 150 06-14-2011 07:00 PM

Did I mention that when he got home from work at 6, that DH helped to move all of the heavy furniture from the dining room and then all of my heavy sewing stuff down to the new room?

WOW~I'm so excited for you. So much room.......and it probably won't take long to fill it. Have a blast!!

cny_sewer39 06-14-2011 09:10 PM

Wow, what a GREAT idea. I am sure alot of quilting projects will get done in the much bigger room. Hopefully, there will be enough space for you and girls. Have alot of fun. I can't wait to see the pics. Please, would you post some. I always love seeing other peoples "Places of Inspiration".

Have a blessed day.

toadmomma 06-15-2011 03:07 AM

Congradulations on using what you have to make your life more less stressfull. YOU GO GIRL. DEB

happyjan 06-15-2011 03:52 AM

ooh! I'm sooo jealous. You are so lucky!! I'm stuck in a store room approx 7' x 9' with cupboards along one wall. Our spare bedroom has visitors staying at least once a month so I can't spread out in there, my Granddaughter has the other bedroom. I can only dream of a sewing room at this time.

emsgranny 06-15-2011 03:58 AM

How great for you!!! We cant do that since our dining room and living room is all one big space!!! You will have to post your finished pics when you are done setting up.

QuiltnNan 06-15-2011 03:58 AM

great for you!

Blinkokr 06-15-2011 04:04 AM

Good for you, that is just marvelous.
Have a Blessed day

That was exactly MY thought too. I recently turned the rarely used spare sleepover/playroom/guest room into my long arm quilting room, and made a small guest room in the smallest room which I used as a rarely used library. You really NEED to spread out.

Tinabodina 06-15-2011 04:29 AM

I am so happy for you . . . . my DH promised me I could have the family room as soon as he put up the walls. I am still waiting and I won't even tell you how long it has been. :( Enjoy!! I will be there with you in spirit.

Nancy S. 06-15-2011 04:32 AM

I hope we get pictures.

Heather Hayllar 06-15-2011 04:45 AM

Fantastic! Really happy you have a larger space.
ENJOY!!!

Becka 06-15-2011 05:08 AM

That's awesome. Have fun with it! And, yes, pictures!! ;)
