Yes, that is a good idea - except- the backing for the quilt has been done for months! I do like two sided quilts so your idea is a great one for me. Here is the backing I already made. The pattern is Crayon Box by Bonnie Hunter.

My friend chose both of the patterns for her quilt. She likes bright colors !!! This has been a bit of a challenge for me since my normal pallet is muddied colors such as Civil War reproduction fabrics.

I will definitely do SOMETHING with the two extra blocks. Maybe a tote bag for me, some 13" throw pillows for my friend to match her quilt, or, a couple of sewing machine covers for my room. These blocks were too much work to not use them in something.:)

Thank you for all of your ideas and compliments everyone.

That's an oops I could make. BUT it looks awesome so far

The only way you could have the same number of lefties and righties is to have the same number of rows of each. That is why you have the odd ones. I am sure you already thought of this. Very pretty quilt.

Your quilt is beautiful. Finish it however you think will make you the happiest. If you're mentally done with the quilt, make do, or have a couple of blocks that are different. If it's a quilt that will hang out at your house and bother you, make a couple more blocks.
This is one of the first quilts that caught my eye when I first started quilting and first found The Quilting Board. At one time, I purchased fabrics to make it, but then used them for projects to teach my children to sew. Now I have my sights on something really challenging ~~ like a Judy Neimeyer quilt. I may have lost my mind entirely.

I see nothing wrong with inserting the two other blocks in the pattern somewhere -- with the stems facing the "wrong" way. Nothing in nature is absolutely perfect. Besides, the two "other way" blocks will add a touch of humor to the finished quilt top. Your top is really delightful, by the way. I really like your colors.

The horizontal rows alternate the stem direction, if you also alternate the vertical rows it should come out even. But I really like the idea of the 2 blocks being randomly place out of order. Makes it more fun. Beautiful quilt how ever it finishes out. Nice job, back is great too.

Lol I started one several years ago. Got busy with other projects and forgot about it.
