Love binding. It's fast, & then I'm done!

I don't like bindings because I have so much trouble with the tails. That first link is going to get used on the quilt I hope to finsh next week.

I love to put binding on. I also do a lot of hand applique!

While it's not my favorite part, not only does it mean it's almost finished, it gives me the opportunity to finally relax and really think about the person it's going to. I imagine the person using it or I think about the baby about to be born, and try to put as many good wishes into the task as I can.

On the other hand, my hands are warning me that I might have to do it all by machine eventually, so I might as well start learning how.

I also dread binding, always have, always will. Thanks for the info. about tutorials. I will try to learn from them and pass them on to all my friends who also detest binding.

I don't want to read 4 pages of answers, but here's my take on binding --- binding is EASY on a quilt but harder than heck on a potholder!!!! I refuse to bind potholders anymore. If you want practice, make some doll quilts or lap quilts....it gives you more room to "play"....

LOL...I learned to make potholder this year and finally....finally...finally figured out how to do the binding on the potholders. I cut the corners off so that they are slightly rounded..use bias binding and sew around the corner very slowly. I don't actually join the binding, but use the tail to make a hanging loop and tuck the end under the edge of the binding to clean it up. It only took me about 15 potholders to figure this out....

I guess I'm in the minority - I love to bind quilts. To me, it's very relaxing. Great to do while watching a Hallmark or Lifetime movie!

I don't mind binding so much any more. I use to dislike it terribly. But like all things, practice, practice.. I have also (recommended by a dear friend) gotten the binding tool from Keepsake quilting (a small white plastic item with differnt markings for 1/4", 3/8" 1/2" and can't remember the other one in each corner)and it is amazing how the mitered corners come out. Love it!
