I love blue and white quilts, in fact I'm just finishing one for my family reunion July 4th. I like the first setting best - it has more of a balanced feeling.

I like the one on point, but with the other there is less blank space to try to fill in. the top of the quilt looks rather blank, when done on pnt. Or you could do some nice quilting it that area to make it pop.

I like #1, but a question first. Where will he be using the lap quilt? a favorite recliner, a sofa? What is the main color that it will be against? Maybe you need to incorporate that color in a narrow strip in your sashings.
Is blue used anywhere else in the room?
