If you have thirds of red, black and white, it makes a different dramatic feel, not as powerfull, but very attractive. |
When black and white was really in, I made a raffle quilt for our church and added two different shades of red to make it pop.

See my avatar, it has red for hearth in log cabin, I once read that it should be the color of fire-red, orange or yellow.

Do you have a picture of your quilt you might share? My daughter wants a black, white and purple quilt. I am planning to make a D9P block, but am having a difficult time envisioning it with purple instead of red accent fabric, which is what I used in the first one I made.
Thanks |
I stuck with only black an white fabric and made a king size but not in a year. It took that long to find all different designs, but it was fun-enjoy

Yes, I made one about 4 years ago from pre-cut 12" blocks that I picked up during a shop-hop. I wanted some color added so I framed them in a medium turqoise. The quilt is beautiful and someday will give it as a gift.

I made a black & white turning twenty & added red piping between the quilt body & the black solid border

I made 3 black and whites with a pop of color each this summer. One with pink, one with yellow and one with red. I used just a few squares of each color in each quilt then added border material with black, white and say hot pink in it to tie it all together. They turned out great, lots of kudos

Have one waiting to make. From McCalls Quick Quilts. The one in the magazine was black, white and lime green. I am thinking I would use red instead of lime. It would stand the test of time better I think.
