Yes I will make duplicates if I like the pattern.
For example, the Pineapple Blossom quilt, I made at least (4) quilt tops in different sizes and only quilted the one used for my avatar. |
I've done two snowball quilts...different fabrics and styles of borders on them, but same size/layout, the second one was commissioned. I'll be doing a second D9P soon...maybe. Depends on which pattern expectant mommy likes better, but she's leaning to D9P.

I belong to a church quilt ministry and we make lap quilts for babies in a local hospital nursery so we try to make as many as possible. I've found many great ideas on this website and usually will make 4 or 5 small quilts using the technique.....until I get tired of it. I also never thought I'd do a series of quilts, but find it's fun to see how a pattern plays out with different fabrics and layouts....etc.

Perhaps the same pattern, but absolutely not the same fabrics.
|
yes, made 4 grankids ragged quilts but in their fav colors and prints. Also, Mom and made table runners for my sisters in different colors using the double wedding ring pattern.

I made two Double Wedding Rings that were supposed to be for my parent's and inlaws 45 wedding anniversaries, even though it was my parents 46th. So I cut them out at the same time. I used all the same fabrics, just with a different placement. Inlaws got there's on time, mom got her's this Christmas. She had just had her 51st anniversary alone since Daddy died after their 50th. Here are pics of both. The one with the cat is my mom's.
Ok. For some reason my computer is telling me I am not allowed access to my own photos. I will get back to ya with the other one! |
I have made the same pattern more than once. but never out of the same fabrics! Two of my favorite patterns are the Pinwheel and Prairie point quilt in the Moda bake shop, and the Zig Zag quilt made with HST! I have made several of each!
|
I have tried, not in quilting but in sewing, and I have a terrible time making the same thing over a second time...I guess it is some type of personality defect.
|
i have clients that come because they've seen a work of mine and want one.
i usually work up a variation on it so that its a unique work and they don't have the same piece as their friend. |
I have several patterns that I have used many times. But... the fabric is different and so it does not look like the same quilt!
|
I haven't made the same quilt twice but that's only because I had others in mind. I'm working on a crumb quilt and they are addictive I'm sure they'll be more. Planning a rag quilt and looking forward to making more than one.

@KAS-
Both DWR's are lovely - and that little girl is adorable. |
I have made the same quilt twice. Once I made a quilt for my niece. I liked it so much, and had so much fabric left over that I made a second one for myself. When I design an original quilt I also make it a second time in a totally different color way.
|
I like to try different patterns all the time. I did make a big bargelo and two little ones that were different fabrics.
|
I do once in a while when I'm making them for the grandsons' boxes (for them to have when they marry, graduate, whatever). A lot of times I will make 2 identical. It's not bad if you do both at the same time. I can't make a complicated pattern more than once usually.

A couple of times I have made an item twice. Usually it's one for me and one for my daughter.
Lynn  |
I make the same one over and over. Using different fabric prints or colors make them all look different. I don't mind as it allows me to master the quilt.
|
I have. I made an alphabet quilt--each letter represented a flower that was embroidered on top of the letter. First one I made in 1990, second one I made in 1996--still have both quilts--we use them both in our family room and I still have the pattern
BTW, I do NOT forsee a third in my future! lol |
As much as I love the challenge of a new pattern, there are times when the comfort of going to a well known pattern makes the process so enjoyable. I do a lot of scrappy quilts, so no 2 quilts are ever quilte the same!! and yes, I've done the same pattern over and over again!!

I have made the same quilt several times. Carpenters wheel I made four times. and turning twenty I made four times and I have made five or so D9P. I also made two D4P. I love fast quilts for giving as gifts. If its going to be a difficult pattern i am keeping it for me. I know what I am going to do with a quilt. I don't know what someone else is going to do with it.

I have done 6 denim and flannel rag quilts and 2 string quilts. One Dresdan but want to do another.

absolutely...when I see something that I really like, I just keep going at it.
Always for gift giving...or for myself. |
I have made them the same pattern more than once but always different colors. Mainly Radiant Lone star(4 and hope to do more) and a Snoball denim(2), Feathered star wallhanging(6) and a few more love to see what another color does to the mix. The silhoutte pictures I do I like to flip and do the opposite direction too. Many table runners have done more than once just with a change of colors.
Usually for gifting, but sometimes just to see what it would look like. |
Have made several diff sizes of string quilts from table runners to lap & K size. All strung out :)
|
The only pattern, if it can even be called that, is a bunch of simple squares lap quilts I made for charity from charm square exchanges. They were all different sets of charms and borders, but different quilting motifs.
|
If it was funto make, yes I'd it again but try for a different look with color choices.
|
I made the same pattern on a couple of quilts but never the same fabrics. I made a wedding quilt for my DD and a friend saw it and wanted one for a friend's wedding. I made it but changed the colors just a little so they wouldn't be exactly the same.

I have made serveral patterns more than once, but with
|
Never. Attempting to follow a pattern, I always manage to do something wrong/different, necessating have to "coverup". consequently, none are ever the same. LOL
|
No, not yet. Every quilt is a different pattern. There are so many out there and the challenge is to much to pass up.

Have never made the same quilt twice, but do make smaller items - table runners etc - with same pattern and different fabrics.
|
Mine are always gifts and I vary them in pattern as most are baby quilts and I have a lot of patterns. Some I have made more than once tho'.

I love those orange quilts in your avitar! I made an orange rail fence that prople say is the definition of an orange quilt, but yours are even "Orangier!" Good work! I came from Berlin NH to PL here in Texas, miss the mountains! Here, the land is as flat as a plate for miles and miles and miles... Jeannie |
