For sale, or for hire... or for gifting?

Or is each one a unique creation?

When I find a pattern I enjoy I'll make several. Its amazing how different fabrics will make the pattern look unique.

I try not to. Which is pretty bad considering the amount we all spend on patterns some times.

good question! I usually don't make the same quilt twice...except for the turning twenty that is so versatile and quick.

I have only done the same pattern a few times, usually each of my quilts are 'unique'. ;)

If I like a pattern, I may make several. Just use different fabrics, colors, and quilt a different size.

I've made several Lone Stars - but trying something different in the setting each time. Yeah, they have the same star, but no 2 really look anything alike.

Also Blooming 9-patches - more than a dozen as those are so much fun (for me) working to get the right fabrics. And those can end up with totally different looks - kids brights, elegant, oriental, etc.

I actually got sick of doing 9 patches so I used the fabrics chosen for my last Blooming to make a Lone Star. ;-) The star is done but it's in my UFO pile (for over 4 years  ) while I ponder the setting.

I've made several RainyDay quilts - again, just testing how the the different fabrics can work.

I don't ever use "collections" of fabrics, or charm packs or layer cakes. Way too matchy matchy for me. I much prefer making my own fabric choices. Totally.

I have a fabulous baby quilt I make all the time because it's perfect and graphic and ignores whatever 'decor' the parents might have in mind. ;-) And I always, always know I have the fabrics needed on hand.

With the exception of the baby quilt (which can look similar even though each has different fabrics), I consider each one unique.

    I made this quilt twice - http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-52342-1.htm

The first time was for my oldest DD - then for my youngest DD - story inside of the original post.

If I really like the pattern I will make them again, but never use the same colors twice. They take on different personalities with the different colors! :)

I love OBW's and have made several. And I'm working on my second bargello.

I have made several tumbler quilts using 1930's reproduction fabrics. I like the tumbler and it has been requested for several quilts. I am making 2 for DD to give to her grandmothers-in-law for Mother's Day.

I've made several of a favorite pattern, but with different fabrics. One time while making a log cabin patriotic quilt I miscalculated and made too many blocks; I ended up with two full-size quilts and one lap quilt! I gave two of them away so it was all good.

I have several patterns that I've made more than once. I've made two variable star quilts, three log cabins, two star in a star quilts, two string quilts, two all borders, 10 pinwheel baby quilts and I'm working on number 7 & 8 square in a square scrap quilts. I will need to add two more of those quilts before long for a new granddaughter and a step grandniece. I like them because I can use up all of my crazy, ugly or wild prints in them and they always turn out really cool.

I have made the same pattern twice with different fabs. One to keep, one to sell. I have also made several T-shirt quilts on commission that I used the same setting but they all look different because of the T-Shirt imprints. Normally once I make a pattern I don't want to make it again unless someone is paying me to do it.

Definitely if I knew the recipient wanted that pattern.

I've made Billie Lauder's, "There's a dog on my Quilt" 3 times in different colors and my most recent was similar only 2 cats instead of a dog & ball.

I made a faux raggy denim cathedral windows for hubby last year and have a crib size one laid out now using denim & corduroy for the circles and flannel scraps for the windows. Hubby's is all denim circles and the windows are his work shirts laid out in Trip Around the World style.

Made two different quilts, several times.

They were similar, just a slight difference. People loved them so much, everyone needed to have one, just like it.

One was an Ohio State Quilt, the other an Angel quilt. I made the Angel unique, looking like the person who requested it.

Still, it looks like I could make both of those quilts, with no end to it. Requests are high.

I made 3 Vintage Moments by Marsha McClusky. I made the first one for me but my 3 girls fought over it so bad I ended up making 2 more. All 3 are hand quilted and beautiful.

I rarely make anything twice but this time, I did.
