I have no idea on how to quilt this. Any any and all suggestions and ideas will be appreciated.
this is so cute. Perhaps some kind of twig/leaf in the background of the owls--of course I'm a SID kinda person, so whoooo am I to know.
Can you meander FMQ? If so then I would meander the blocks around the owls and SID the outlined details of the owls and SID the sashing.
Beautiful job BTW! |
OMG, so cute, you could echo around the owls, I might even consider a large cross hatch. But I am looking at it as a hand quilter. I have seen some great overall machine patterns. I am sure you will get a lot of ideas from the machine quilters. But it is just so cute.
That is adorable! I agree that a leaf pattern would be pretty.
That is so cute, I know a MIL who loves owls. Can you direct me to your pattern source?
I would do some echo quilting around every other owl block and perhaps some radiating lines going outward in the others or straight lines. something different anyway.
great blocks! |
I have no suggestions, but wanted to say this is SOOOOO cute! I bookmarked it! I just love it.
Where did you get the pattern, please don't tell me you made it youself.
That is so cute.
I would echo around the owls & do either a meandering or cross hatch in the blocks!! What ever you do it'll look great!! |
I would outline those adorable owls, and then do some cross hatching in the sashings. Love your quilt top!
That is absolutely adorable!!! You've gotten lots of great quilting ideas here ~ be sure to share it with us when you're done!
That looks great!!!
How about some tree bark behind the owls? http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.c...tree-bark.html or, maybe some of the other designs would interest you. I think they would make the owls "pop". http://www.daystyledesigns.com/365project.htm |
I had a quick glance at your blog- wonderful!
What about the quilting pattern you used for Josh's quilt in the background of the owls? That's a bit leafy looking and you did such a wonderful job. |
I like the idea of the twig/leaf background... !
I did not have a pattern for the owls I drew them and will be happy to send anyone a copy of them. You ladies are the best. Thank you so much.
Countrygirl, sent you a PM.
Just checked out you blog, love everything. |
I like the idea of echoing...

the quilt is beautiful |
me too! and I love your owls!
I also love your owls, especially since they are all so different. I think one thing I would do is quilt a branch for them to stand on, then leaves all around them. This is such a cute quilt!
I would echo quilt around the owls and do a leaf pattern on the sashings. That is such a cute quilt.
My Mother absolutely adores owls and I think she would love this (I know I do)! I would love it if you would share your drawings with me. thanks a ton!

That's adorable, I can't wait to see when you've decided on the quilting.
I would be happy to send them to you, just pm me your address.
I would quilt a wavy cloud like effect around the outside of the owl. Then SID the owl parts. Then in the owls belly use multiple large up/down zigzags one above the other and offset to represent feathers. Sort of like this, but larger and connected together:
v v v v -v v v --v v I think you get the picture. :D |
How adorable! I can't keep my eyes off of it. Be sure to show us the finished project. Deciding upon the quilting is always such a big decision for me, too. I've read the many suggestions. Can see them sitting on a branch as one suggested. You have many ideas to choose from for the upper area.
OOooooh, OOooooh how wonderful. I love owls. And since they are night creatures I'd problibly add some stars to the night sky along with the branch, and leaves, and "v"s for the feathers. I think the design is comming together from everyones suggestions. I can't wait to see if quilted. Whatever you decide is going to be great.
Countrygirl, You might consider yourself a newbie but your work is fantastic. I checked out your blog. You strike me as my kind of quilter. Modest but not dumb. It pays not to worry about the quilt police and do your own thing. As a handquilter I agree with another post that said to echo the owls and then crosshatch. Whatever you do that quilt will always be a standout.
Those owls are so cute!!!!! I have never tried applique, but if you would be so kind as to send me a copy of your wonderful owls, I think I just might have to now!!!! If you PM me I can give you all my info.
As for quilting, I would try the tree bark idea someone gave, I think that would look great behind the owls!! Cheers! Rachel |
I'm with the others, twig and leaves in the background and boarders.
Hi,
I love your Owl quilt and hope you find the quiltingyou like for it. I sent you a PM about pattern. Thanxs Bev |
Oh my goodness that is so very cute, I also think you should try a leaf and twig design. That is so cute, each owl has such personality! To cute to cute!
I love your quilt. Can you tell me where you got the pattern? Thanks Ruth
I LOVE it!!!!!! They are adorable!!
The first thing I would do is put glasses on all of them. |
I don't have any suggestions for you on how to quilt this but, I did want to comment on how adorable this is. Nice Job!!!
Wow, these are great! I love your color and texture combinations.
I like the idea of SID the owls themselves, then echo or grid quilt the backgrounds. I'm sure whatever you choose will be just fine. |
I vote for echo quilting around each owl.
No ideas except to echo what others have said. LOVE the owls and will pm for the drawings. Have 2 bffs who are crazy for owls. Absolutely lovely work on the owls and their personalitites. Chris
I would put a leaf design around the owl in dark hand quilt on the inside of body pieces stipling in the other parts.
Is anyone coming to the Piegon Forge Quilt show next, I hope be there on Thursday Whipperwill |
