Maybe table topper or table runner for dresser. Wallhanging. Organizer with pockets to hang on closet door. It can be small to put jewelry or bigger for shoes, scarves, etc.

Trim a set of towels, scrunchies for the hair or a hair band, trim jeans or tee or jacket, sweatshirt or ballcap.

Teens love bags of all shapes and sizes. They finish quickly and they love them.

look for all those little "decor" projects online: cloth desk accessories, little baskets, hanger covers, makeup/jewelry wall pockets, window valances, things like that - sharet

How about a wall hanging, pillow shams, decorative pillows, padded picture frames, a dresser runner.

She may want to make something for a charity or friends.

A tote instead of a school bag.

Let her start a DP9 patch, but tell her it is not a quick project. You may be surprised at how much she gets done sewing a little at a time on it and then she will have something for her bed and also realize how much time and work goes into a quilt. Just make sure she knows this is a long term project. She can also make the smaller projects in between taking a break from the quilt if she likes. I love the DP9 patch, it goes quickly and makes up nicely as well.

How about placemats for the lamp table or dresser scarf. My GD loves wild type of materials. She can get very creative. She has made quilts for her friends, even a small dressy satin bag to match their formals, etc. She likes to make her gifts. Maybe yours would too.

Why not cover a trash can for her room with girly fabric? Maybe even put a feather boa around the top.

Make a tissue box (cube shaped) cover. You just use a drawstring at the top about 2" down from the edge and pull the tissue out through the opening? I've done these with machine embroidery (redwork designs) and it goes really fast!

Oh, did anyone mention pillowcases?
