My 17 year old niece wants to sew "things" for her room. We already made a QAYG into a pillow top. She is a "girly" girl - lots of pinks with black and white thrown in. Her room is Paris, movie stars and cute or inspirational sayings. She wants to help sew but doesn't have the time to devote to a quilt right now. I have pillow cases and throw pillows for us to make tonight. On down the road, we talked about d9p, yellow brick road and Warm wishes patterns for lap throws or bed quilt. What other "small" things can you think of? Thanks for ideas in advance.

a new purse.

What about a fabric covered pin board

how about mug rugs she can make for Christmas gifts? Warm wishes is a great quilt to make; easy, fast and pretty. There is a "photo quilt" that is made of thing clear vinyl "pockets" that you slip pictures into and hang on the wall. The pockets are sewn on at the top and bottom so you can just slip the photos in through the sides. Teens love to see photos of their friends and family.

Great idea! I knew I count on the board for wonderful ideas. |
Bulletin board , desk chair cover , lamp shade cover , dresser runner , curtains , kindle or phone cover.

She can also cover her trays with fabric (mod podge lacquer), padded/quilted frames for mirrors or pictures. New make up bags -- travel bag.

14" Doll quilts or baby blankets - when she decides she wants to quilt. They are small and easy to maneuver in a sewing machine.

Maybe a wall hanging would be good for her as well. It is a quicker finish than an entire quilt... She might also like to make fabric storage boxes and other useful things as well.

What about making fabric boxes to organize things. Here is a link to one
http://www.allfreesewing.com/Video-T...e-a-Fabric-Box There was one much simpler to make that a Russian crafter showed us with a tute. I don't remember her name. But if you google you will find different styles. |
