Any color (other than black or white) that you use as a final border will be the color that your quilt will "read". So if you don't plan on using a multi-colored border, decide on a color you want to emphasize. I think that the blue-violet you've chosen is nice! |

When I need to make a quilt wider or longer I tend to add a sashing 1st then another pieced sashing with squares using the scraps leftover, then another narrow sashing, then the border. Here's one making it wider for a child's quilt.
