I said a prayer for you and your sister when I read this post. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in October 2011. I am one of the lucky ones. They got it all and I am not taking 8 rounds chemo as a precaution. I only have 2 to go. I am sure the next five years are going to be very difficult for her and for you. One of good friends came to hospital and left me 35 index cards with bible scriptures for me to read daily. They are all about healing and they really help me. If you would like to have a copy let me know and I will send them to you. I have them typed and saved on my computer so that if the ones I have wear out I can replace them, so all I have to do is email them. Just let me know. Be strong. I will continue to remember her and you in my prayers.

What are her favorite colors? Can you find fabrics with motifs of things she likes? I'd also keep the pieces simple- squares, rectangles, half-square triangles. Something to go together quickly, and not cause you trouble.
Perhaps Log cabin, pinwheels, a carpenter's star, rail fence, or stars. :)

My prayers are with you both. What about including some butterflies in the quilt--whatever pattern you choose.

Something cheerful, definitely. Not too big or too heavy. You go from cold to warm to hot and then back again so the quilt will go on then come off! Something she can hold and think of you while she has it. It will be special to her that you made it for her!

My younger sister has just been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. She will have to have five years of chemotherapy. I want to make a special quilt for her to keep warm during the infusion treatments. I don't want to use the typical "Cancer" fabrics or "Hope" ribbons to remind her. I want to make it positive and colorful. I need suggestions. The whole thing is a bit overwhelming right now. Any help is most appreciated.

Thanks, Elizabeth

Elizabeth thoughts and prayers are with you. I lost my mother in 90 to bone and lung cancer.
I am currently working on a quick quilt block that someone posted a couple of weeks back that they called another quilt square trick. It uses four colors and really works up quick. go to Googly Eyes & Glitter and type in another quilt square trick. Big hint. I first tried a 6 1/2 " square and ended up with a 14' finished square, then I tried a a 4 1/2" square and ended up with a 9" square. I am makeing a friend a quilt now using the center as a 4 1/2 " square. If you can't find the site, p.m. and I will send you more info about how to do it. That is if I can fin out how to get to my p.m.'s on this new board. Really very easy and quick. Keep postive thoughts and lots of prayers. Hugs Gerbie
