[QUOTE=QuiltnNan;6841919]here is a warm wishes with 6" blocks. it is 62x80 with the 4" border. the purple strips are cut at 2" which makes the white strips cut at 3.5", not 3". and here is the yardage suggested by EQ5.
I think the 6" block is unfinished. Therefore finished it would be 5.5". The 2, 3, and 2 strips would be 6" unfinished and 5.5" finished. |
Does anyone know if there are fabric charts for diff. sizes of Warm Wishes? I'm thinking of a throw size to Queen & King.
or could I just double amount from the pattern for a King? Thanks |

I have that pattern and it only gave me yardage for 44"....long double (82 1/2"x 93 1/2")....twin (67 1/2" x 89 1/2")
So I'm not much help with the larger size needed. But you can download a crib size at www.quiltmaker.com/patterns. |
QuiltnNan, thank you for the example, and calculations/yardage information. I have made one Warm Wishes but did not like my color choices and was considering just skipping making others with this pattern. I think I see where my error was and will give it a go another time.

Good luck with your quilt, it will be beautiful. I just love how QuiltnNan can draw up a quilt on the EQ. And give yardage!! I made a quilt similar to this for my grand niece a few years ago when I was a real beginner! I did not know it had a name. Will make it again for my grandson now that I have seen such a nice picture!

Thank you QuiltnNan and Willferg for your help with yardage. I always get confused also!

I want to make this quilt but always seem to pick a different one to make. Since I mainly have large pieces of fabrics, I just start cutting. Doubt I could ever truly decide how much fabrics I would need.

love EQ it really helps

Well, if you have 3" strips and they finish at 2.5 and 2" strips and they finish at 1.5, you have 1.5 + 1.5+ 2.5 = 5.5, so if you cut your focus fabric at 6" square you'd be alright, although your quilt would be smaller.
Personally, I use cut an 8" focus fabric (7.5" finished) and then cut 2.5, 2.5, and 4 to get 2 + 2+ 3.5 and a finished 7.5" block. Eight blocks across is 60" and ten down is 75" or throw on one more row for 82.5". I find it gets done faster with bigger blocks, but that's just my way  |
