1) the 4 patches are not ugly.
2) I like to alternate 4 patches with solid blocks; either yellow or blue will look good, and 'solid' does not necessarily mean 'plain solid color;' it can be a print that is predominately one hue or another.
3) I think it will look great no matter what you do.

It's NOT ugly - those colors are bright and fresh. I like the blue the best. I think it brings out the colors. Did you try a pale yellow? How about settinng them on point with a plain blue block?

I don't think this is ugly at all! I love the yellow and blue together and I think I like the blue sashing better. This is a great job, even for a second or third quilt!

I like the white one.

Now, how do you know that this is ugly? It isn't DONE! There is so much you can do with these blocks. I agree with hilda Vest and moonwolfe23, try rearranging your blocks, perhaps on point. I definitely would think about red. That's the first thing that can to my mind when I saw your blocks. Red sashing or an accent border. Perhaps a red with a yellow, or green, or blue accent in it, or just tone on tone red. Yes, I like the tone on tone idea. Think unconventional. My favorite qults are the ones that others would never think of putting together. This is YOUR quilt. Make it YOU, not something out of a book! I have a feeling you will be so happy with the end result. You must post it when it is done. A lot of us are eagerly waiting. Go girl!

I like the blue. It brings out the other colors in the quilt. I agree--no such thing as an ugly quilt. Anything made with love is pretty.

I prefer the blue sashing because it looks mmore wam and soothing but if you want the blocks to stand out use the white. Your quilt is not at all ugly. Once you have the sashing done and the quilting you'll see how beautiful it really is.

Those are lovely colors! Looks great! I like the white sashing.

Either would work, but I like the blue best. It is not ugly and when you finish, you will be surprised how nice it will look!
