i made a throw of hex's but did them individually. then hand stitched them together. i hate Y seams!!
i'm making hexagon coasters now. same way.
i cut 4 inch fabric and batting, then 6 inch fabric for backing.
lay on top of each other, fold the backing over one inch, and another inch on one edge. pin. then fold next edge, pin, etc.
then stitch by machine with zig zag stitch or blanket stitch. or do them by hand. you quilt each one individually if necessary. I did that for the throw since those were 6 inch hexagons.

Oh my gosh! This is beautiful! I have never pieced anthing by hand. And, I'm kind of short on time. She wants it by Mother's Day.

I would be happy to post a pic when I'm done, except remember that I didn't choose the fabrics - she gave me the hexagons already cut out. Aparently her Mom was going to make the quilt many years ago on their 1st aniversary and never did. So she asked me to put it together so she can give it to her Mom. Sweet thought don't you think?

So now I'm trying to figure out how and what pattern she must have had in mind. After a little research, I figure it must have been Grandmother's Garden.

Shopbelt, I love your quilt, I would love to see a larger picture of it, and I think your bag is fantastic.

Your quilt is beautiful! So much work - I'm sure that you did hand sewing - yes? Here's a close-up of my "Mickey Quilt"
