I'm finding that getting addicted to this QB is cutting way into my quilting time....And I still don't get the housework done! And that's just reading the thread not taking time to adding much input.
So here I sit in front of the computer when I should be marking one quilt for quilting and one that needs to be sandwiched and quilted. Oh well...I quess they'll still be there! |

I think in previous generations when women didn't work outside the house, it was a given that your house looks like that of June Cleaver. It was the only way to be judged as a good wife or mother. I don't think it is like that any more. I still like a clean house but not enough to clean it. I could go on but I will stop.

I can suggest the FlyLady method. She has a group on yahoo. It is a group for those with fibro. It's a method where you divide up the house in sections and work on different sections different days of the week. She teaches how to short-cut house chores and gives lots of tips. Use a timer, work on the house, then reward yourself with quilting. The quilting reward makes digging into the housework not seem like such a chore, cause in no time at all, you get to be back quilting. When life tends to take over, try to get at least 15 minutes of sewing in each day. You will not feel quite as deprived and the little bits of sewing daily tend to add up by the end of the week. I am lucky, my DH does most of the housework. He is having knee repolacement in 2 days, though, so I'll have to pick up the slack. LOL

I was raised in a clutter filled, never neat home. It bothered me to have everything out of order, not just messy, it was stuff everywhere. I have to say it was a clean mess but still messy and the house never was 'nice' looking. I like pretty rooms and empty counter tops, neat closets and everything has a place. I even keep one rack in my freezer empty. You won't believe how nice that is to have an empty rack when you need it. DH is an organizer. He keeps his stuff put away and knows exactly where it is. My sewing room is my biggest chore. I can't find a system that works for me in there at all.

I get up around 6:30 am every day and I do my choirs. It only takes an hour to get everything done. I only have 1 21 year old kid at home and he has disabilities so it works out pretty good and really don't have to many messes to clean up.
