You might applique some holly and berries in the white spaces, or other Christmas items, however, it is absolutely beautiful as it is. What better colors for Christmas than red and white? Besides, once the presents are under the tree you won't see the tree skirt. I think it's an absolutely terrific tree skirt pattern and it's on my "Roundtoit" List.

Sew on some gold christmas bells.

What a bunch of great ideas. Thanks so much! I particularly like the idea of quilting snowflake and star designs....have to go looking for some of those. I may back it with a Christmas fabric of some sort and it'll be reversible. The pattern is easy and quick to piece. Wish I'd done this in time for our church's Lottie Moon fundraising auction and sale. Maybe next year.

I agree - once the tree is added it will be christmas, although when you get presents added you probably won't even see it. It is a really cute pattern, thanks for sharing it with us.

Adorable pattern and it TOTALLY says, "christmas"

It looks fine like that but add whatever makes you happy

Great pattern!! I think it will be very classy as is. I am in need of a new skirt. Thanks for posting the pattern.

I love this in simple red and white. I've had this pattern in mind all year. I have to make a new tree skirt. I threw my old one out last year, it was felt and was in bad shape after years of cats lying on it and biting off decorations (Santa's button eyes were gone, the ribbons on the packages were bedraggled). Glad you said this was simple to do. I'll probably use plaids or Christmas prints.

I made Darlene Zimmerman's Stars All Around tree skirt. Here is a link to the free pattern: http://www.simplicity.com/t-free-qui...ree-Skirt.aspx
Just the top is done so far and I haven't taken a picture, but it is exactly like the pattern. I used Bella Solid Christmas Tree red and a Kona white. I really like it. Problem is, everyone I show it to says it doesn't look like Christmas. Any ideas how I can make it more Christmas-like? Some kind of simple embellishments? What do you all think? Thanks! |

You can always bind it in a predominately green Christmas print. If it's a tree skirt, what other holiday would it possibly be for (unless you leave your tree up until Valentine's day!) ;)
