Micro serrated scissors can NOT be resharpened. Basically all they can do is rehone the scissors edge but in doing so they will remove the micro-serration which is the very thing that makes Karen's scissors so wonderful. Additionally, if he used them to cut plastic ties on some decking material I suspect he did more than damage the scissor's micro serrated cutting edge. These scissors are manufactured to cut fabric, not plastic. I suspect he did more damage to them torquing them to cut heavy plastic ties so they are probably no longer aligned properly any more. Make the SIL buy you a new pair now.

I agree! I had my house cleaner use my Gingher duck bill scissor cutting the threads off the roller on the vacuum. I tried to tell her to ask me for the Fiskars that have a very sharp point that would better than my Gingher. I started to hide my Gingher when she comes over now.

My DH did that and he came home from work to find his classic car in the driveway and me standing there with the garden hose waiting to 'wash' it. He understood what I meant then and has never touched my sewing scissors again. Sometime, you have to get their attention.......

I am so sorry your good scissors are ruined! I hope this was just a male-no-thinking-thing and not a long term pattern of disrespect to you. I see a lot of passive/aggressive behavior in my world.

If the problem is the latter, you'll never be able to "tell him/make him" to get you a new pair.

If the former, perhaps a dangling fob on the end of your good scissors, for the next pair that you get, will provide a reminder to avoid using the scissors for anything but fabric.

My Husband would do something like that. The closest thing is what gets used. I keep my stuff in drawers, not out in sight.
