I am so sorry this has happened to you. I think when we are busy we don't always focus on what we are doing.

A girl (young) I used to work with was going on a week long cruise and bought a whole weeks worth of clothes. Had them in a plastic garbage bag. Her mom threw them out. Don't put anything but garbage in a plastic garbage bag, and look before you toss. Helpers aren't always helpers.

I'm so sorry. Are you sure you tossed it though? A quilt would have given some heft to the bag. I hope you find it. I bought a roll of stamps last year and put them in one of the Walmart bags I had just bought. Unfortunately, I took all the Walmart bags to recycling so goodbye $44 worth of stamps!

EX- DIL swore that I hadn't sent home a bag containing the kids soccer shoes. I knew that I saw her toss them into the back of her SUV( she was angry at the time). She finally found them, they had slid between the seat and flat area of the back. So, check anyplace there can be a space in your van. ( PS, she didnt apologize either,LOL)

And to a much lesser extent I did it yesterday! I had two house keys made at Home Depot - later in the day I was emptying the bag that had the keys - but there is only one. Now where on earth did the second one go? I did my own check out and definitely scanned both keys and put them into the bag. Grrrrrr!

All I can say is SORRY. {{hugs}} as you've read, others have done the same thing, don't beat yourself up.

My DH doesn't like a lot of "cutesy" decorating items, like tree skirts and such. When we got married, I showed him a pattern book I had of crocheted tree skirts. We mutually selected one that he loved, and I spent months crocheting it. It lasted through several years, including a move from Illinois to Mississippi, but our first Christmas back in Illinois, we couldn't find it anywhere. And then he had a horrible thought. He'd bought a new artificial Christmas tree and burned the old one....and he's betting that the Christmas tree skirt was in the old tree box, that he didn't open before burning it. :( Five years later, I still haven't had the heart to make a new tree skirt.
