I used to use 1inch stripes of sugar paper and have 4 year olds make mobiles using some of the quilling techniques. We could do similar in quilting.

If you google " palestrina stitch" you will get lots of examples and YouTube videos on twilling. Looks really interesting. My Great Aunt taught me to embroider while she stayed with my sister and I when Momma was at the hospital giving birth to my brother. That was about 60 years ago. She was a quilter also but passed away before she could teach me to quilt.

NeedlenThread.com has a tutorial on twilling. It is also called palestrina stitch I believe. I saw a demonstration on twilling at a quilt show I attended a few weeks ago and it interested me too. One of the quilts was done in twilling, simple designs but a beautiful piece of art. Believe I will have to try it now that the weather is turning cooler.

I posted a picture of a wall hanging that I did in pink pearl cotton some time back. I tried to find it but had no luck.. It was fun to do and went fast.

If you google Mary Corbet's Needle "n Thread. She has a list of videos The Palestrina stitch is the same as a "twilling" stitch.

Nope, the paper one is called quilling! Not twilling!
