True confessions of a busy quilter - I didn't even know there were different ways to baste. If you are spray basting what product do you use? Does it gum up the needle when you quilt?
|
I probably use June Taylor the most and no, it doesn't gum up my needle :D:D:D
|
I use 505 or Sullivans. Both work well for me and don't gum up my needle.

I thread baste for hand quilting and pin baste for quilting on my dimestic machine. I dont care for tbe spray.

spray is bad. bring it on ;-)
|
I prefer thread basting. Of course, the spray basting is easy to handle but to be honest I don't like the touch of a spray basted quilt sandwich. The fabric and the batting do not "move" against each other when hand quilting.
I know there are many quilters who use the spray and don't have problems, but I don't like it. |
I pin baste. I can't handle the smell or fumes from sprays and I'm not going outside in 10 degree weather to spray a quilt. I just got pinmoors so my next quilt will be basted with regular pins and pinmoors.

Pin or spray depending on the size of the quilt. :-)

I spray baste. I try to use 505 but will use a substitute if I need to.
