Wow. Great answers. Thank you everyone.

I print them on my printer. But be sure you have fabric sheets that are washable. The fabric sheets I bought are only dry cleanable, a fact that they do not disclose on the outside of the package. The printing definitely fades upon washing.

I print mine...here are a couple samples
|
I use a piece of muslin, iron down a hem, use my vine design on the sewing machine, in a contrasting color and hem it and make a finished border. Then I use my disappearing ink pen and draw lines and put my message on it; who to, little saying (my last one said "Thank you for everything, friend and neighbor", my name address and date. Then I pinned it down to the lower left backside and whipstitched it down and VOILA! my label. Of course, I did buy some labels not too long ago------"It took forever", but those are going to go on my quilts. Edie

I have made labels using hand embroidery, colored permanent pens, printed pictures from the computer on fabric, and machine embroidery. Have also used printed fabric labels that come on the bolt. It doesn't matter what kind of label you make/use, just so you label those quilts for future generations.

Many times (when it is for a relative) I find a nice decorative fabric with an open space in it and I write in my own handwriting about the quilt. I think your own handwriting makes it more memorable.

I do mine on my embroidery machine. I have done several for gals on this board. I embroider them as I really like to digitize my embroidery!

Me, too! Her work is awesome

Ditto this for me too! I also learned (somewhere) to use a square piece of fabric, fold in half point-to-point and then sew the label into the corner of the quilt when machine sewing the binding on. Be sure to leave enough room for the binding to fold back onto the label without covering any of the printing. Works well for me. Yolanda Wood River
