I think it depends on what you "collect". I have just started and already have too much...LOL. I do know that I should probably seperate my 30s fabrics because I really like them and am getting quite a collection :D Christmas I probably need to keep seperate as well.

I unfortunately do not have a room so all my fabric is organized by color and placed inside those plastic grocery bags and stored in the trunk of my car. So when I need something I go out to the parking lot and spend hours sorting fabric in front of everyone.

Maybe someone has an idea, thanks for the topic! But people with ADHD are not good at organizing - so it kind of gets over whelming at times I fall in love with a fabric, buy it & store it away- While going though my stash - I have found several duplicate fabric purchases - guess I loved the fabric. I have been trying to organize by color - but I have a lot of flower prints that could fall into several colored areas. I have FQ - "Want to be FQ" and smaller square, rectangluar, triangle pieces, but after reading about people that are looking for 3" of a certain fabric, I am almost afraid to cut anything. I guess that is why my husband seems to think I am a pack rat.... BUT I AM A PROUD MEMBER! |

I don't keep collections together unless it is specifically for a planned project. Too often collections are repetitive prints in different colors and that would lessen the impact.
Otherwise, I do as is generally does: - special themes - Christmas, cats, halloween, etc - batiks - by color ali |
