We bought a doughnut made of silicon like the kitchen spatulas and hot pads. The bobbins slide in nice and tight and they can't come unwound. The next time I see them for sale I may buy 3 or 4 more.

Update: OK, I just saw the post by BellaBoo and that is what we have, but there is no way we would pay $36 for that. I'm going to check on ebay.

i went to the dollar store and bought those cheap multicolor ponytail holders i think you get like a hundred for $1 i put them on my bobbins and my threads

I have a couple of the "doughnuts". Certainly didn't pay that much as they are only one color. Wal Mart and Joanns both carry them and I really like mine. The "rubber" holds the bobbins so they aren't rolling around...

I like to keep the bobbin with the thread, so I bought several packages of those bobbin holders that fit into the top of the spool of thread, and the bobbin snaps into the holder. However, I also bought several sets of thread from Connecting Threads, and the holes on the spools are too big for the bobbin holders. I don't yet have a way to organize my thread neatly (it's mostly in a drawer), so for now, I take one of those bendy plastic drinking straws, fold it at the bend, and put the folded end down through the hole in the spool of thread; then I put the bobbin on the piece of straw that is sticking up out of the hole. Works for now.

I have a small plastic box with lid and compartments for my Janome ones and a larger one for my old Singer bobbins.

I just ordered a kind of holder thing that attaches the bobbin to the thread from which it came in an effort to be sure I have the same thread on the top on bottom. HOW I am going to store them NEVER occurred to me!

I just bought a bobbin holder from Nancy's NOtions. It's foam and you just put the bobbin in a slot so you can see what color is on it. Holds about 35 or so bobbins and is flat and can even be cut to smaller size to fit your storage drawer.

I too use the rubbery circular holder. The bobbins stay in place and end of threads are kept in place.

It's amazing how much post text is not understood. I got many messages saying I was nuts paying $36 dollars for one of the plastic donuts. Ladies it is full of bobbins prewound in every color of Masterpiece thread. One of the best brands of thread for sewing. The bobbins are called Frostings and are usually sold in sets. It is not a multi color empty donut.
