How do you keep your bobbins from getting tangled and messy

Well I don't know about the messy part - but I put mine in a box that checks came in and one of those plastic craft boxes with the dividers in it with the lid that snaps down. I have used that clear vinyl and wrapped in around thread to keep it from unwinding I wonder it that would work the same on a bobbin? Might have to give it a try.

I use the small kind of terry like pony tail holders. I put one around the bobbin and then put the bobbin into a box for storage. You can get the pony tail holders at Wal-Mart. You want the tiny small baby size, they are perfect for any size bobbin. I use them on my large longarm bobbins too.

I have a ring that goes around my pin holder that has a groove that they sit in that is great, as well as I also have a hanging board that has little pegs on it as well, this is great as it keeps them up and less likely to be knocked around

I use the plastic, circular bobbin holders. They work great and I can turn my bobbin so that the end of the thread is facing downward, where it won't move. This keeps me from pulling my hair out and I really like how neat everything is. Plus, if it drops off the table onto the floor, it doesn't pop out and my bobbins don't "run" all over the floor, leaving me with a huge thread tangle to try and straighten out. (I hate that!)

The problem I have using the pony tail bands is I can't see the color of the thread on the bobbin. So I make sure I put the same color band as the same color thread. That'a big help. I like the round bobbin holders too. Have you seen this?

I ordered one from Connecting Threads (cheaper) and it's super for applique, handpiecing, or mending, all the colors needed in one place.

I have a couple boxes from the fishing tackle department that are flat, snap shut and have lots of moveable dividers inside.
I put all spools and bobbins of the same thread together in a section, so I don't try to match up threaded bobbins with spools they don't belong to.

I was given a "donut" from a secret santa and LOVE it! You can get them almost anywhere now. I had looked at them, but didn't know if it would work, so did not purchase one. It's the best gift I've ever been given, so much better than the plastic boxes you buy made especially to hold them. The donut is sort of rubbery plastic material and when you snap your bobbin in, it holds it well and I have not had one pop out.

I bought a round bobbin holder at my lqs. I also put them on a tread holder that I have.
