I keep mine enclosed sheet protectors in binders. I haven't organized them yet, but so far, I have a To Do binder which has the ones I know for sure I want to try. You can take it a bit farther and store them by them or level of difficulty.

I store my patterns in a metal file cabinet. I still have a lot of garment patterns so I store those by the kind of pattern, ie Simplicity, Butterick, etc. and then in numerical order and I have a copy of each pattern front which I have in a notebook sorted by type of garment. My other patterns for quilts or quilt type garments are sorted by quilts, garments, and miscellaneous. I have taken a picture of each pattern, named each (which puts them in alphabetical order), and then printed the folder from the computer with a thumbprint of each picture. Patterns from magazines, Internet, etc are in binder with an index at the front. I am getting ready to go through all my magazines and scan only the patterns I want to keep and then get rid of the magazines.

I use the tall plastic drawer carts and label the drawers like applique, purses, dolls and so
I keep my patterns in a labeled plastic tote.
I use 2 cardboard boxes. one for crafts and home decor items and the other for quilt patterns and clothes
I recently organized my patterns by buying photo albums and the clear sleeves that protect papers-took out the picture pages and substituted the sleeves putting the patterns in them. 3 books worth so far-but I love to buy patterns
I store mine in the plastic sleeves when I purchase the sheet sets. So far I have three because I have donated the patterns that I know I will never make, these three are seperated into Holidays, tablerunners, and baby quilts. ( the last, I devote most of my time making, so I have a large selection of these.)
Most of my baby quilt patterns have come off the internet, so I have a seperate folder for those. CruisingStef |
