Maybe it's just me but it doesn't look square in the photo.
However, since you made it you know what it is! I prefer rectangular except for if it's going on the sofa to
snuggle up in. Then I don't care what shape it is.
I would add some length to it if I were you (you stated that you didn't want it square I think) no problem! I like the other poster's advice of skinny top and bottom and wider sides.
I love it- can't wait for Fall and that's what it reminds me of. You did a beautiful job.

I would add a strip of white, then a strip of pattern, and then another strip of white to both the top and the bottom to increase the length. You could use the same pattern for binding to tie it all together. I've done that before and I think it looks fine.

My solution would be to add to the top only. Match your white triangles to make them diamonds, then add however many on point blocks you need for length. The white diamonds will be your pillow tuck and the new blocks will cover the pillows.

I made a square quilt more rectangle by adding a row of pinwheel blocks at the top and bottom. I think your quilt would look nice by putting a small white framing border all the way around your quilt and then adding piano key border at the top and bottom and then another white border. Love your quilt BTW and love the fall colors-my favorite colors.

I like rectangular quilts for the couch, a travel throw, or a twin bed. For a king bed I make 115x115, a queen gets 100x100 and a full gets 90x90. But if you really don't want a square, I would do a narrow border on 2 sides and wide border on the other 2 sides.

Judging by your avatar, you are quite good at applique. I think this quilt would look super cute with a swag of vines and flowers on the top and the bottom. You can find a green that plays nicely with the greens in the top to make vines and leaves and use the bits of fabric you have left to make flowers maybe adding a little something from your stash. If you want to make it look more planned, you could probably extend the vine up the sides just don't have as many flower and leaves so it is narrower. This will get the quilt in a rectangle shape for you. I love your quilt BTW. Like QuiltE I am drawn to autumn colors.

I like symmetry so I would not like the look of borders added just to the top and bottom. I do like the idea of the applique and you could do a narrow border along the side with vines and leaves, and a wide border on top and bottom with vines, leaves and flowers. Love your colors.

Sure! I think a border on the top and bottom would be great. I would have the neutral to the inside and then cap off the top and bottom with one of your colors: green, gold, red.

I make quilts to donate for kids. I often have to add to the tops and bottoms of the quilts to make them long enough. I aim for 45" x 60", give or take a few inches. I don't worry about symmetry, Just long enough to cover their feet.
