Lone quilter here. I hate it since sometimes its nice to speak to someone who has "threads" in common. So I go to lqs's alone and quilt shows alone :(

I usually quilt alone. I requested an Ipod holder last Christmas, so now I can quilt to my favorite tunes or radio station. I attend Quilt Guild meetings once a month and go on three day quilting retreats, twice a year (24 ladies).
I have spent a couple of quilting days at a friend's house while our husbands were out of town. That was fun and we are planning some quilting days at my house and possible roadtrips in July. |
Most of my sewing is done here at home after work. But I do have a group of ladies from church and we get together one weekend a month for a UFO weekend. It runs from 5 - 11 (12 or 1) Friday and 9 - 3 on Saturday. It just so happens that it is tonight and tomorrow. We will have anywhere from 4 to 12 of us come and sew away. I love UFO weekends, it's a great time to get together with my friends and sew and swap ideas, patterns and sometimes even fabrics. Last weekend we went on the Central Coast Quilt run, there were 6 of us and we had a great time hitting 14 quilt shops and buying lots of stuff. It is great to go with friends, we help each other look for things we're searching for and helping to get good matches or contrasts.
I also belong to a Guild but can't attend every month cause I volunteer for the MOPS Group at church and sometimes they land on the same days. Have never taken a workshop with Guild as I work and can't make it to those. |
Ho-hum, gots no friends, gots no buddies, very much a loner. Actually, my productive time is after 8 pm and that's not a time to go calling anyway.

I mostly do my sewing/quilting alone but about every two weeks my sister and I get together and have a sewing day. I wish it could be more often but she works and has little time.
I joined a guild once but then had to stop going because i went back to work. Now they are way to advanced for me. Just me and my kitties. They are a great help--always in the way. |
Lone quilter here. I've helped some friends learn to quilt, though.

I have a busy, noisy job. I am a school lunch manager and feed 2400 kids a day. That sewing room is my oasis. I love the hum of the machine and no chatter. So I am a lone quilter.

I am a lone quilter too..i do enjoy my own space and peace and quiet but sometimes it would be nice to do things with someone who also enjoys quilting. i have tried to join a sewing guild and lessons but everytime I do work or other commitments seem to get in the way so it is just easier to quilt whenever I have time. i do have a friend who is very creative but she lives 6 hours away and when we do catch up we talk nonstop!

I'm a loner also. I do belong to a Quilting Guild. A very nice one with wonderful people. But it is hard for me to go on The mondays once of a month because it is at night. Not used to driving on dark roads like we have in Georgia. I MEAN DARK. Deer run across the roads all the time. No one makes fun of me which is nice. LOL I try to go as many Weds. as I can. The Sit and Sew meetings are every Wed. from 9:00 to 12:00. Sadly I haven't been able to go much for the last few months. I have Neighbors that are quilters. But they are Military and are used to doing and being alone no matter how dark it is and think I am a sissy. Which I don't think I am just cautious. Besides being a lot younger than I am. So that leaves me with me. Which is just fine.
