do you own for quilting / sewing.
I have so many Ginghers of all sizes and kinds. Is that odd. |
I don't think so. But I am not tell how many I have.
I don't know! I've never counted them.
Including the 5 pairs in the kitchen, living room and other appropriate places, I have 12.
Only 3 for sewing. Don't ask how many dog grooming shears I have, and you don't want to know what they cost either!!
The up-side is that I attend enough dog shows with shear sharpening services that I can take all my scissors and knives to dog shows for a weekend and they come back sharper :) |
I don't know. We are going to go with "Not enough" can never find them when I want them.
2 -- one big and one little
Let's see -
1, 2, 3, 4, yep just 4 for sewing. We won't count the total number of scissors I have around the house of all sizes! |
For sewing, I'm ashamed to say 8
My son counted 16 pairs of scissors in my sewing room just lately and he probably didn't find them all. My excuse is that I run a lot of workshops and teach 4-H and not everybody remembers or has the right tools for the job. I've always loved to cut right from the time I was five and gave my younger sister with the almost waist length curls a very short pixie cut!

about six i think. maybe eight!
All I will admit to is ... ALOT!
50???? I have good ones, 2 pairs pinking shears, 5 pairs snips, about 10 small pairs to cut coupons and junk, about 15 big ones to cut junk...and the rest are kitchen shears, miscellaneous,
Over a dozen for sewing only. Then the regular kitchen sheers. Plus the ones for scrap-booking, and crafting. Around 36-38 I Guess.
Isn't that question like asking "how many sewing machines do you have?". I think both are against the law! <G> Too many to count but not enough would be my answer.
I had to quit counting at 20.....ran out of fingers & toes!
at least a doz pair just for sewing

I have way to many scissors. I see the good ones at estate sales cheap and I can't leave them behind. |

Ummmm, uhhhhhh, I don't actually know. There are somewhere around 80 to 90 pairs of scissors in this house but they're not all for sewing. I'd say at least 60 pairs are just for sewing.
11 pairs of scissors in my sewing room. The scissors in the rest of the house don't count.
I refuse to find them all to count, but I would guess I have easily over a dozen. I just ordered two more that are Ginghers. I have to give them a try. I've heard lots of good things about them. :)
23, counting sewing, kitchen, garden and hair
I counted 5 pair.

Let's see...I have two dressmaker shears (regular & lightweight), tailor point scissors, two embroidery scissors, and applique scissors...all Gingher. We also have countless pairs of "utility" scissors stashed around the house.

For sewing? Probably fewer than 10, since the advent of the rotary cutter :)
GOsh I think you and NP3 have a scissor hoarding problem. LOL Seriously, I have a large bin in my sewing room with about 10-15 all sizes, 4-6 smaller embroidery scissors, and 15-12 rotary cutters, all sizes. I cut lots of kits use them all. I know someone on here collects them, it is in her avatar. So nice. I have never plurged on Ghinger. I want one when I grow up.
Oops, I just saw Scissorqueen above. That's the one I envy. LOL |
to many to count as I cann't find them all. I have a pair of gingher embroidery sissors that have been missing for a few years, LOL. Must be with a UFO I will come across some time.

I have three large pair and 8-10 small ones. I worked in a hospital for years and I had a friend that worked in the emergency department. The little surgical kits they used contained a pair of small scissors that were "disposable" (and you wondered why medical costs were so outrageous?)and quite often they didn't get used. She would put the unused ones that were going to be tossed in her pocket and save them for me. Some are straight and some are curved. They are very sharp, stainless steel...and they make great sewing scissors. Now that I'm retired I may have to buy a few now and then!

I have my good Ginghers for cutting fabric, two rotary cutters big & small, my leather shears for cutting fake fur & the nippers I use most for sewing just to clip threads. Used to have a good pair of pinking shears, but DH got them when I was on the phone one day & decided they should be in "his" shop...never to be seen again! "I didn't take them"..knew I should have tripped him before he got out the door with them! LOL
not odd at all....I have one pair of Ginghers....and about 10 pairs of other brand. Wish I had just stayed with the Ginghers. Aren't they the best scissors ever?!?!?!
Ginghers are very nice. I have a handful of "good" scissors and a handful of scissors for everything else. I have some scrapbooking and 2 pinking, one for leather and one for fabric, and several rotary cutters of all kinds...but I only like the one! I can never find the scissors when I need them, they hide like bunnies while I sew!
